Samuel Kirkpatrick Samuel W. Kirkpatrick, 82, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was the retired president of Fort Smith Butane Company and retired captain of the Marine Corps serving in World War II. He was past president of the Arkansas Butane Association, first president of the Southside Rotary Club, past member of Hardscrabble Country Club board of directors, member and past elder and trustee of First Presbyterian Church, fund-raising chairman and project manager of First Presbyterian Educational Building project, a member of University of Texas Alumni and the USGA Golf Association. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today in First Presbyterian Church with burial at First Presbyterian Columbarium in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. He is survived by his wife, Frances; a daughter, Kristan Kirkpatrick of Fort Smith; a sister, Dr. Jane Kirkpatrick Koonce of Glenview, Ill.; two nieces and three nephews.
