Ernest JACOBUS, 89, of McCurtain, died Friday, June 22, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was born March 13, 1912 in Lehigh to Lucian and Madeline (Costinteno) Jacobus. He married Elva Brown June 16, 1956 in Stigler. He was retired custodian for the McCurtain High School and a farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one brother, Lucian Jacobus; and one sister-in-law, Clara. Survivors include three brothers, Alphonse Jacobus, Harry Jacobus and wife Margaret, all of Chicago, Ill., and Delano Jacobus and wife Joyce of Girard; one sister-in-law, Leola Jacobus of Girard, Ill.; and many close nieces and nephews. Services were at 12 p.m. Monday, June 25 at the McCurtain Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathaniel Craig officiating. Burial followed at the Miners Cemetery in McCurtain under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home in Poteau. Pallbearers were Douglas Hawkes, Roy Jonson, Garald Lovell, Mark Robins, Eric Vanwinkle and Gary Wilson. Billy Mackey PERSALL Jr., 48, of Spiro, died Friday, June 22, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was born Dec. 31, 1952 at San Bernardino, Calif. to Billy Mac and Mary Ann Sims Persall. He was a musician. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by one daughter, Paula Michelle Persall; one son, Paul Michael Persall; two sisters, Brenda Titsworth and husband Ken and Debra Persall; four brothers, Berry Persall and wife Juanita, Marty Persall and wife Liz; Rick Robinson and wife Nancy and Danny Robinson; his mother, Mary Robinson; one grandchild; several uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 26 at the Lakeview Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Woodal and Phillip B. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro. CARTER. 87, of Heavener, died Saturday, June 23, 2001. She was a longtime resident of Heavener and member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert. Survivors include one son, Harvey Lee Carter and wife Helen of Heavener; two sisters, Joyce Henry of Fort Worth, Texas and Jessie Mae Henry of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Nancy Morris, Susan Hembree, Bobby Carter, and Dennis Carter; seven great-grandchildren, Bradley Morris, Whitney Hembree, Brandon Carter, Amy Carter, Sarah Carter, Adam Carter and Arin Morris. Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Monday, June 25 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener. Hazel Rebecca ISRAEL, 89, of Bonanza, Ark., died Sunday, June 24, 2001, in Greenwood. She was a homemaker and a member of Memorial Baptist Church of Hackett. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Monroe Israel. Survivors include two sons, Edwin Ray Israel of Panama and William Murray Israel of Pocola; one brother, Richard Needham of Lake Havasu City, Ariz..; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery in Hackett under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Robert FIELDS, 93, of Hodgen, died Friday, June 22, 2001, in Talihina. He was born March 5, 1908 in Rocky, Ark. to the late Ed Fields and Dora Bell McBride Fields. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Fields was a cattle farmer and was a member of the Baptist Church in Muse. Survivors include one brother, B.E. Fields of Fort Smith; one sister, Nora Despileger of San Diego, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; a host of friends and family. Services will be held Tuesday, June 26 at 1 p.m. in the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with the Bro. Gene Stacks officiating. Burial will follow in the Rocky Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Bob Fields, Kenny Miller, Jock Owen, Mike Baron, David Redding and Harlow Redding. Honorary pallbearer will be Doyle Fields. Ruby Chinn Stephens, 75, of Heavener, died Monday, June 25, 2001. She was a longtime resident of the area and a member of the Heavener Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include one daughter, Evelyn Goletto of Heavener; one son, Winston Johnson of Howe; five sisters, Vera Waymire of Maybank, Texas, Winnie Foster of Howe, Rose Kinsey of Claremore, Joyce Judd of Heavener, and Dora Graves of Camp Verda, Ariz.; five brothers, Earl Milligan of California, Elmer Milligan of Dallas, Donald Milligan and David Milligan, both of Forney, and Ray Milligan of Choctaw; two grandsons, Craig Goletto of Heavener and Larry Goletto of Dilley. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 28 at Heavener Memorial Park under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
