    3. The following are the obituaries for today: Nancy C. Burton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sept. 22, 2001. She was born in Ralston, Okla., on April 30, 1920, to Ina Johnson and Opie Carter. Nancy was a longtime resident of Tulsa, and had moved to Houston to be near her family. She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Marguerite Miller and Helen Frazer, and brother, Fred Carter. She is survived by her devoted husband, Kenneth Burton Sr., son Kenneth Burton Jr., and his wife, Ann Lee, grandsons Mark and wife Ashley, Cory and wife Sarah, Scott and great-grandchildren, Carter, Conner, twins Kyle and Kendall, and several nieces and nephews. Married at 17, Nancy and Ken enjoyed a loving marriage of 64 years. She was a 39-year retired employee from Sun Oil Company and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Tulsa and former member of First Baptist Church in Poteau. Nancy's life was an example of Christ's teaching to love and care for others. She was a blessing not only to her family, but ministered for many years to her elderly friends Virgil Morris and Marion Scott. She was devoted to her job and her friends. Nancy loved the Lord and particularly treasured her studies of the Bible through Bible Study fellowship. We will remember her boundless energy, optimism and laughter which characterized her life. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Poteau. A celebration of life will be held in the First Baptist Church in Poteau Satuday at 1 p.m. Her ashes will be transported from the church services to the local Poteau cemetery by a horse-drawn carriage, a symbol of the simple life she led. The family commends Tubella Mollon and Irena Tolpa for their patient and loving nursing care. Special appreciation is extended to the Second Family ministry of Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Community of Katy, Texas, which included Maria Snakard, Phil Connelly, Al and Ellie Kallus, Thomas Nash, Diane Shofner and Elizabeth Thumann. Many thanks to the First United Methodist Church of Katy and their Society of St. Stephens. A grateful thanks to Dr. Ramon Solis and the staff at Christus St. Catherine Hospital of Houston for their loving and professional care. William F. "Bill" Sonneman, 72, of Van Buren, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, in his residence. He was a retired United Methodist minister, a graduate of Swanee Military Academy, a graduate of the University of Arkansas and a graduate of Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He was a member of the Texas Conference of UMC, a member of the Herber Lodge No. 501, a Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite of Fort Smith. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Fike, and a son, William F. Sonneman III. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren. He is survived by his wife, Eunice Marie of the home; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Larry and Lynne McClure of Van Buren; three sisters, Emile Stingley of San Clemente, Calif., Mary Kate Arrington of Little Rock and Sarah Agee of Prairie Grove; three grandchildren, April McClure of Van Buren and Andy and Ryan Erbacher, both of Florida, and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Pearson, Charles Boster, John Boster, Joe Dan Boster, Fred Williams, Norman Marion and Jerry Gosnell. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren. Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Backpack Program at United Methodist Church of Fort Smith or the charity of the donor's choice. Joseph A. Pehr, 71, of Fort Smith, formerly of Coraopolis, Penn., died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, in a local hospital. He was a retired vice president of operations for Rheem Maufacturing, Inc., a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, a member of Holy Name Society of Christ the King, an Alumni Association member of the University of Pittsburgh and a former board member of Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith. Rosary will be 7 p.m. today in Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Fort Smith with cremation following the funeral Mass under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of the home; two sons, Joseph B. "Jay" Pehr and daughter-in-law Catherine of Natick, Mass., and Craig S. Pehr of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Marie Goss of Coraopolis, Penn.; and three grandchildren, Bradley, Henry and Carter Pehr, all of Natick, Mass. Pallbearers will be Bill Pedrick, Don Palmatary, Tom Wise, Dick Fuhrman, Larry Itchniowski, Harold Keizer and Glen Taylor. The family will visit with friends following the rosary. Greenwood, Fort Smith, AR 72901. Edna Reece Edna Oleda Reece, 81, of Van Buren died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, in her home. She was a homemaker, a member of the Rena Road Church of Christ and a lifelong resident of Crawford County. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Rena Road Church of Christ in Van Buren with burial at Sarah Grove Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren. She is survived by her husband, Sherman; four daughters, Rosie Jones, Faye Cain and Mary Tanner, all of Van Buren, and Geneva Vinsant of Dora; three sisters, Dora Hodges and Ellen Stringer, both of Van Buren, and Lois Webb of Campbell, Calif.; two brothers, James Brown of Van Buren and Gene Brown of Joplin, Mo.; and 15 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Sherman and Lester Hopwood, Jimmy Burkhart, James and Allen Hamilton and A.Z. Hudson. The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
