She is survived by four sons, David of Y City, Ted of Downington, Penn., Bill of Irving, Texas, and Michael of Greenwood; four sisters, Mary Hamara of New Milford, Penn., Irene Bateman of West Chester, Penn., Margaret Zvodar of Exton, Penn., and Elizabeth Belko of Slidell, La.; two brothers, John Hamara of Coatsville, Penn., and Jake Hamara of Caln, Penn.; 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be family members. OLIN SHAFER ROLAND - Olin Shafer, 70, of Roland, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, in his home. He was retired from Fort Smith Chair Company and attended Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Roland and American Legion Post 339 in Roland. He was an Army veteran. "Hap" Serratt, Sr., 82, of Muldrow died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was a retired mechanic for Mt. Aire in DeQueen and an Army veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Genita Doris Serratt. Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Gillham Baptist Church in Gillham with burial at Gillham Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Pallbearers will be family members. FREDIA L. DAVIS MULBERRY - Fredia L. Davis, 58, of Mulberry died saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in a Fort Smith hospital. ERNEST BREWER SALLISAW - Ernest Brewer, 78, of Sallisaw died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was a furniture factory worker at Ayers in Fort Smith. He was a Protestant and the widower of Evelyn Inez Russell Brewer. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brushy Cemetery north of Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw. He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Poindexter and Darlene Connor, both of Sallisaw; two sons, Dave Brewer of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Michael Brewer of Sallisaw; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. Elmer Huston Miller, 72, of Alma died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in his home. He was formerly of Rogers and Chicago and Evergreen Park, Ill. He was a retired lithographer and landscape architect; an avid gardener and golfer; a 50-year member of the Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, Lodge No. 815, Oak Lawn, Ill.; a member of the Graphic Arts International Union, Local No. M458. He graduated from Tilden Technical High School in Chicago; attended Michigan State University; and graduated from the American Landscape School. He attended Catholic and Methodist churches. He was born April 1, 1928, to Bertha Mildred Bowen Miller and Elmer Huston Miller, both of whom preceded him in death along with a sister, Florence Miller Heth. He is paternally descended from John Baker who served in the Virginia Militia at Redstone Old Fort, Pa., under Col. Silas Hedges and was the founder and defender of Baker's Fort at Cresap Bottom on the Ohio River near Wheeling, Va., during the American Revolution. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Florence Helen Langenkamp Miller of the home; two daughters, Carol Anne Miller LaPorte of Virginia Beach, Va., and Julieanne M. Miller of Alma; a sister, Margaret Miller McCullagh of Woodstock, Ill.; two grandchildren, Joseph Charles LaPorte and Jennifer Susanne LaPorte Ruffner, both of Virginia Beach; a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Michelle Ruffner; a niece, three nephews and numerous cousins. Leonard Ray Newman, 85, of Fort Smith departed this life, Sunday, January 28, 2001 in a Fort Smith nursing home. He was born September 25, 1915, in New Blaine, Arkansas, the son of the late Luther and Mattie (Humphrey) Newman. Leonard was a retired machine operator for Garrison Furniture Factory, a member of Midway Assembly of God Church and a World War II Army veteran. He served with the 241st Field Artillery Battalion and awarded the good conduct medal and while serving France was awarded the Bronze Star. He is survived by his wife, Velma Dale Foster Newman; two sisters, Pearl Dooley of Sweetwater, Texas and Ruby N. Inman of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two brothers, Roy J. Newman and Cecil W. Newman of Fort Smith, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews. Tullis, 81, of Fort Smith died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, in Fort Smith.
