I don't know if this is the place to send this note, but I was recently in Fort Smith and used their Genealogy Department at their library. The ladies working in the genealogy department were most helpful and cheerful. Their kindness and interest was very much appreciated. So if any of you get a chance to do research at the library, know that you will receive all the help you need. Sincerely J Juanitas Researching: Rusher, Hamilton, Jones, Deaton, Davis
Brenda, I'm not Carolyn, but I can probably help you on this one. Hartford should be in South Sebastian County, so Greenwood would be the county seat. However, correct me if I am wrong, but I think all the archival records for both Sebastian and South Sebastian County have long been kept in Fort Smith. It's a strange situation in Sebastian County... though I've been aware of it as long as I can remember, I never quite knew why it was the way it is- one county, subdivided, with two county seats... and what is true for one, is not necessarily true for the other. For instance, South Sebastian County is dry, whereas Sebastian County is not. Does anyone know how or why this all came about? And when? Just curious... ================'leigh Ashleigh Morgan Thames boudiccat@mindspring.com On 30 Oct 2000, at 18:08, CLIFF ANDREWS wrote: > Carolyn, which one would you use for the Hartford area? > > Brenda > > ______________________________
I appreciate the obituaries very much. For those who don't care to receive them, they are always clearly identified in the subject line, and properly dated- it would seem a minor task to just delete them if you aren't interested. And, while it's on my mind, a way overdue thank you to Carolyn for all the time, effort, and commitment she has put into posting them to the list. Please continue. And again, thank you Carolyn for your dedication and hard work in the interest of the list members. Hello, I saw this listing in my genealogy newsletter and thought some of you may be interested. There are apparently indexes to many publications so you can see who's in the books before you order them. At first glance I saw death indexes, census information and many more. Worth a glance. www.ArkansasResearch.com Donna Patterson IttyBkShp@aol.com http://patterson.family.homepage.com Genealogy Helplist Volunteer http://www.helplist.org/usa/ca.shtml
