    3. Cleta Gilliaum NEWPORT - Cleta Margret Chapman Gilliaum, 78, of Newport died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, in Newport. She was born Oct. 31, 1922, in Ada, Okla. She retired from Victor Metal after 20 years and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Newport. Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Watson Cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Marlene Hughes of Newport; one son, Paul Elton Gilliaum Jr. of Greenwood; one sister, Geneva Page of Auvergne; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.     3. The following are the obits requested: THURSTON MASTERS BENTONVILLE - The Rev. Thurston H. Masters, 89, of Bentonville died Jan. 19, 2001, in a Springdale hospital. He was retired from the ministry, having served 38 years as a pastor in Cave City, Mountain View, Jonesboro, Tyronza, Bentonville, Dewitt and Fort Smith. He was a 33rd degree Mason and a member of Masonic Lodge 56. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First United Methodist Church in Bentonville with burial at Bentonville City Cemetery, under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Bentonville. He is survived by his wife, Tracy Lee Masters; two daughters, Sue Tonsing and Joy Moser, both of Bentonville; three sons, Thad of Russellville, Tommy of Albertville, Ala., and Larry of Bentonville; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 201 N.W. Second St., Bentonville, AR 72712. HAROLD HALL Harold W. Hall, 71, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was a Methodist, the retired owner of Harold's Tire Shop, an Air Force veteran and a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was active in the National Guard and worked to get flags donated to the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. today at U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Burial will be with honors by the VFW District 7 Burial Detail. LEO SPEER STIGLER - Leo Speer, 78, of Stigler died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, in Stigler. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Stigler VFW, Masonic Lodge and Bedoine Shrine. He was a former Haskell County sheriff, barber and rancher. He was part of the Normandy invasion on D-Day during World War II.     2. RUTLEDGE BROUGHTON, 90, of Spiro, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was a laborer and truck driver. Mr. Broughton was born June 15, 1910 at Spiro to Jim and Stella Manning Broughton. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, James Richard Woolsey; his wife Myrtle (Holt) Broughton; one sister, Iva Mahar Chelf; and one brother, James W. Woolsey. Survivors include two sisters Lois Louise Steelman of Sanger, Calif. and Thelma M. Starrett of Spiro. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22 at the Mallory Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.     2. ALLIN "BUCK" COPELAND, 59, of Panama, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001. He was born Aug. 2, 1941, in Calhoun. Mr. Copeland was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church of Panama and a carpenter. Survivors include his wife Millie Copeland of the home; one daughter, Tanya Remy of Howe; one son, Larry and wife Adell Copeland of Van Buren, Ark.; five stepdaughters, Connie Blaylock and Priscilla Watts, both of Shady Point, Dale Darneal and Sandra Hale, both of Panama, and Debra Shackelford of Cameron; three stepsons, David Hankins of Poteau, George Hankins of Panama, and Shawn Hankins of Salem, Ore.; three sisters, Lillian Nelson of Campbell, Calif., Eastel James and Ellen Cherry, both of Panama; 30 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and loved ones; a host of beloved friends. Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19 at Evans Chapel of Memories with the Rev. David Nolan and the Rev. Jimmy D. Cook officiating. Burial followed at Shady Point Cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau. Pallbearers were Danny Martinez, Doug Martinez, Steven Morris, Chris Kasper, James McGage, and Brian Toney. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis James, Danny Jackson, Billy Don Hale and Earl Blaylock. NEVAH LUCILLE RAGLAND, 88, of Oklahoma City, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001. She was born June 6, 1912 near Poteau to Whitaker A. and Ora Lee Earp. She was a former resident of Eufaula, a kind and loving caregiver; an unassuming and gentle woman without pretense. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church and a devoted Christian. Mrs. Ragland received a masters degree in education from Oklahoma State University. Most of her teaching career was spent in LeFlore County, Achille, Madill and Eufaula where she retired after forty years of teaching. She married Harley Earl Ragland June 14, 1941. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing with a specialty in silk pajamas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three sisters, Letha Miller, Artice Roberts and Edith Squires. She is survived by her son, David E. Ragland and daughter-in-law Judy Ragland of Oklahoma City; one granddaughter, Alyssa Nicol Ragland of Los Angeles, Calif.; one grandson, Jeremy David Ragland of Indio, Calif.; three nephews, Whit Roberts of Bing, Walker Lee Squires of Red Oak, and Dwight Miller of Pine Bluff, Ark.; one niece, Lawanna Roberts of Oklahoma City. Private family graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20 in Poteau. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20 at the First Baptist Church in Eufaula under the direction of Black's, Shipman and Merritt Funeral Home of Eufaula. Memorial contributions may be made to research for Alzheimer's disease. ANNIE BULLARD, 97, of Wister, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001. She was born Feb. 12, 1904 in Wister. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Arrie Bullard; one brother, Calvin Bullard; and two sisters, Minnie Bullard and Ocie Bullard. Survivors include nieces and nephews, Wanda Mae Bullard Sinclair of Poteau, Helen Byford and Tom Bullard of Guthrie, Charlie Bullard of Oregon and Doris Evans of Rio Dell, Calif.     3. Hi, Are you the lady that's a Bowden relation? I'm the descendant of John Bowdoin, Jr. who married Elizabeth Folsom abt. 1721 Northampton Co., VA. William B. Bowden who married Elizabeth "Betty" Travis, their son is William Bowden b. abt. 1745. William Bowden who married Elizabeth Martha Macon in 1762 Granville Co., NC. They had a son John Bowden b. abt. 1870 Randolph Co., NC. I don't know who he married but his had these children: Henry, Nancy, William, Thomas, James, Reddick, NT. and Martha. Martha Jane Bowden married William B. Jordan. Can you help me with these families? I have written Joyce Hornback. She said to try you and see if you could help since your from that John Bowden line.     3. MARY GARRETT Midland-- Mary "Dolly" Garrett 71, of Midland died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001 in a Fort Smith hospital. She was retired from Fort Smith Table and Chair and was a Baptist. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday in McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Hartford Memorial Park in Hartford. She is survived by a daughter Barbara Howard of Huntington; a son, Perry Garrett, Jr. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a brother Kenneth Bodnar of Hackett; and three grandchildren, Billy Howard, Jr.; Perri Amy Garrett and Charles Howard and one great-grandchild. Pall bearers will be Richard Lennier, Carl Nemeth; Jodie Haralson, Lynn Basinger, Leon Slote and Dennis Hall The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.     2. I am researching John Johnston and William Johnston. They are brothers born in Arkansas in 1860 and 1864. John A. Johnston married Mary Ann Justice in Sebastian County and William Johnston married Kittie Bailey also in Sebastian County. John and Mary relocated to Mena, AR and Will was a barber in Ft. Smith and moved to Texas due to TB. Is anyone researching these families? Thanks Lynne
