1. [ARSebast] Road Trip
2. To all of those who have requested look-ups and information, please know that I will do all I can to help you. If you're looking for census information and are unable to find it, and I don't have time to search there, our Corpus Christi library has an excellent history section, and I can do it when I get back. My time in AR is limited to a week, and I'll be going through several towns, not all of them for the purpose of genealogy. I will probably extend my visit at least by one day, possibly two, because I REALLY want to transcribe the Mt Harmony Cemetery in Greenwood, AR, and check up on a little bitty cemetery I found when I was up there last. Because I didn't have time then, I didn't get to write down any information for those cemeteries, except pertaining to my own family, if they were there. I know the road blocks and brick walls, and I am totally compassionate to your needs. I will do everything I can to help ya'll. I just pray for your patience along with the way if for some reason I'm unable to look up everything pertaining to your ancestors. I'll be packing tomorrow the 28th, and leaving here the 29th, so the deadline is midnight! I should be able to visit in some spots and snag someone's computer, since I don't have a laptap. This may be my second trip, but it won't be my last. Our family has a reunion every year either in Arkansas or Texas, and the 2002 reunion is in Arkansas. Sometimes, I wish I lived there : ) If we can't find matches this round, we'll try again a little later. In the meantime, for death certificate information, I suggest you order them from Arkansas Dept of Health Division of Vital Records 4815 West Markham Street, Slot 44 Little Rock, AR 72205 (800) 637-9314 toll free (501) 661-2726 Fax: (501) 663-2832 There are fees involved, and you have to fill out a request form. I don't believe they would be released to me, since I'm not family, but I'll see. Ya'll have a great week! 1. [ARSebast] Making a trip to Arkansas
2. I'm leaving here Sunday, 7/29, and hitting the road for Arkansas - specifically, Saline, Sebastian, and Scott Counties. My time will be a little on the scarce side, but if ya'll need look-ups let me know, and I'll try to help. If I did any look-ups for you in May 2000, and didn't find anything, I don't think I'll find anything this trip either : ) This is for Jay - you were kind enough to do a look-up in the Arkansas death index for Lular Phillips Taylor. I believe she was found in Garland County. I cannot find the email, and I've looked everywhere. Can you help me by looking again? Her death would have been in the 1920's (early, about 1923) Thanks so much! 2. JACK WIGGINS
3. Liberty Cemetery, about 3 miles east of Greenwood on SR-96. During the 1950's an Army or National Guard Graves Registration Company made an inventory of all graves. Bear in mind though that many of the older graves which go back to 1850's are not marked. There are some very old grave stones standing. My family has burials there and I have spent many a time walking around looking at the graves. As I recall there are some Bell's buried there and it may be that is where most of the Greenwood Bell's are buried. Several years ago I viewed the map made by the Army which was in the then custodian. The last I have heard the current custodian is Joe Chastain who lives in Greenwood, try this phone number for him: 1-501-996-2373. He and his father are in the Greenwood phone book. There have been Bell's in Greenwood for many years. In fact there is a section of town in the N.E part named Bell addition. I was born and raised in Greenwood but after 24c years in Navy I have ended up in Florida.

1. [ARSebast] My families mystery line
2. John & Gayle Marin
3. Names included in following narration: CALDER/COLDER, DANFORTH, DOANE, DUNN, GIBBONS, GIVENS, HARRIS, HAWKINS, ROBINSON, TARRANT, WYMAN Places included: Arkansas, Indian Territory, Maryland, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas This narration is to setup the situation for the sake of giving background for the reader. We start with a young couple leaving the northeast and traveling down toward Texas. On a river in Ohio, near Cincinnati, he falls off and drowns. She may have stopped for a while somewhere along the way in one of these states: Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Missouri ending up in Arkansas Territory. We believe her to be an Elizabeth Harris (b. 1811) from New York State of Native American descent. {Looking for more information on her and her family.} We know she was in Arkansas when she had two or more children with the last name of DANFORTH. It is rumored that the father of her children is an Asa DANFORTH of Maryland. The children are Martha, Mary, possibly an Anne and one boy. Martha (1825) was born at Ft. Smith, Sebastian Co., Ark., and Mary (1831) at Ft. Gibson of Indian Territory now in Muskogee Co., Ok. Elizabeth is next located in Texas with the last name of DOANE (1860 cen.) or DUNN (1870 cen.). Her new husbands name is rumored to be a William DOANE or DUNN, he is not listed in the census. There are children with her in the 1860 census with the last name of DOANE, a T.J. (23 b. Ark) and Abner (18 b. Ark.). In the 1880 census, Elizabeth is living with a granddaughter in Waxahachie, Ellis, TX. Nothing is known of her death and Asa DANFORTH is a complete mystery. Martha DANFORTH possibly arrived in Texas sometime in 1842/43 or she might have been in Ark., or the Indian Territory waiting to join her husband. She was the wife of a Dr. William CALDER/COLDER of Kentucky and was part of the Peters Colony. In Feb. of 1843 Dr. Calder, while traveling from Cedar Springs(now Dallas), Dallas Co., TX to Ft. English(Bonham), Fannin Co., TX was killed by Indians in Colin Co., TX and was buried there. {Looking for more information on where Martha was at this time and when or where their only child, a boy, was born.} All we have of this union is a probate record of Dallas county naming Martha’s second husband (Elisha S. WYMAN) as the administrator. The child is listed as W.L.C. WYMAN in the 1850 census, assumption is that the C. stands for CALDER/COLDER. We have several references of this Wyman family unit in counties of the Dallas, Hill, Ellis, Navarro areas. Elisha(b.1811) is of Maine and was part of Mercer's colony, he died in Jan. 1853 Hill Co., TX at which point they had two children, Susanna Smith WYMAN (b. 1848/49) and Mary Henrietta WYMAN (b. 1850) born in TX. In Dec. 1853 we find Martha married a James M. GIVENS/GIBBONS in Ellis Co. TX. There was a probate for Elisha WYMAN (1854) listing James GIVENS/GIBBONS as guardian and administrator. Martha died in the mid to late 1850’s in or near Ft. Belknap, Young Co., TX. James is known to have been involved with the army possibly even as a Quarter Master. In the 1860 census James was listed as married to someone else. As far as we know there weren't any children of this union. W. L. C. WYMAN disappears at this point in time. {Looking for information to fill in the blanks.} Mary DANFORTH visited her sister, Martha, and brother-in-law, Elisha S. WYMAN, in 1850 and at that time she met her first husband, Gen. Edward H. TARRANT. Mary and Gen. TARRANT were married on 6 April 1851 in Navarro Co., TX. When sister Martha died, General and Mary TARRANT fetched the WYMAN children and brought them back to Navarro Co., TX and to take care of them. Gen. TARRANT died in 1858. Mary remarried in Nov. 1859 to a James Emerson HAWKINS. Mary and James had children of their own and also took turns raising one of Mary's nieces, the WYMAN daughters, with Grandmother Elizabeth. James E. HAWKINS was also the administrator of the WYMAN girl’s estate. Mary died on 15 Feb. 1891 and J. E. HAWKINS died in 1912. The WYMAN girls grew up and married brothers, Susannah married William Allen ROBINSON (m. 1871 Tarrant Co., TX) and Mary Henrietta married Elisha Zachary Taylor ROBINSON (m. 1869 Ellis Co., TX). I am a descendant of Susannah and William Allen. We have a bit of information on this line, but would love to find out more on cousins and other relatives. This whole thing is to hopefully gain more information on Elizabeth HARRIS and Asa DANFORTH. Marriage records for Martha and Dr. William CALDER/COLDER and Elisha S. WYMAN. Information regarding the CALDER/COLDER ancestors and descendants would be wonderful. If anyone reading this has any information regarding this saga, or any light they could shed on the family or parts of it, would put me in heaven (not literally, I hope). Thank you, Gayle J_Marin@msn.com

2. Sara M. Bettencourt
3. Hello, Friends -- I have some information which indicates that several people I am researching are buried in Liberty Cemetery in Greenwood -- but I have not been able to verify this. Can anyone suggest a way to confirm burials there? Does anyone on the list have access to a published listing for this cemetery (if there is one) -- OR can you tell me the NAME of the book and compiler? Perhaps I can locate such a book with that information. The people who I think are buried in Liberty are: George and Catherine (SPECK) AWALT. George died after 1851 and Catherine after 1850. I am hoping their tombstones will give their dates of death and perhaps birth. Henry Peoples and Susannah (HOLMES) BELL. Henry died 26 Nov 1863 and Susannah died in 1869. Of course, I would also love to know if anyone else with the surnames AWALT and BELL are buried there, too. Thank you for your help! Sara M. Bettencourt
