1. [ARSebast] Guess what I got?
2. While at the So Sebastian Co Historical Society, I purchased ALL issues of The Key. Now I have the index and all the goodies. Time to hook up my scanner : ) If you flood me with requests, be prepared to wait a while for stories, if there are any there, ok? My first priority will be to those folks to asked for help while I was away. I did not have the opportunity to look up obits. I know there are a couple of people that have a copy of the index to Saline Co obits. If they'd like to share, that would be great. I did not get to Benton County. Sorry. My schedule changed the last 3 days I was in Arkansas. 1. [ARSebast] James Curtis
2. Johnnie, I think I found the little church and graveyard in Barber, AR, but not James Curtis' burial site. I looked through the Arkansas death index, but the ones I was using only went up to 1933. Does anyone have the index that would cover 1938-1942? Prior to going to Barber, I did a search for all cemeteries in Logan Co, and the Antioca Cemetery seemed to be the closest and was the only one listed in Barber. I'm sending you a picture of the church in a separate email. Antioca Cemetery AR Logan cemetery 350758N 0940126W Barber I drove over hill and dale, down dusty back roads. The small, white church was there, and across the little road was a cemetery. My mom searched one side, while I searched the other. Neither of us found him there. I did find this marriage data, though in "Logan Co AR marriage records - the 1st 50 years," page 37, (1877-1924). I don't know if it pertains to your family or not: CURTIS, W.H., age 24, Barber, to WHITE, LIZZIE, age 24, Barber. 10 December 1915, by W.J. FIELDS, JP. No security. 4-142. 2. Larry Pool
3. Can you assist me with my impenetrable BRICK WALL (the 1850 Polk Co., AR census)? I have not been able to break through it for over a year. In addition to the 1850 Polk Co., AR census, below is the 1860 Sebastian Co., AR; 1870, 1880, and 1900 Scott Co., AR census for my great-grandfather, John J. POOL and others in his family. The below Nancy HAM may be John J. POOL's mother and her middle initial may be C. I do not know John J. POOL's father's given name nor his mother's maiden name. As usual there are conflicts with ages and other information. In addition to the below census, I have the 1900 and 1910 Atoka, OK census and 1920 Red River Co., TX census for others in my family. 1. [ARSebast] Death Record needed for parent's names/ Ft. Smith
2. Donna Patterson
3. Hello list, I am looking for the parents of William H. Bridgers/Bridges who died Feb 19, 1909 in Ft. Smith. I am hoping that the death record had that information and if there are any volunteers or SKS out there that can check for me? This has been a brick wall for a long time now. The marriage record does not list the parents of William or Delila so that was a dead end. I don't even know his exact D.O.B. because of his changing ages in the census records! I don't know if he would have had an obit placed or what paper would have carried Ft. Smith Deaths. I am hoping my volunteer work in CA will "come" around and I will find the answers I need on my brick wall. Would love to see if the obit also lists information, but the death record may be the only place to find his parent's names and maybe where they were from. 1 William H. Bridgers b: Bet. 1822 - 1824 in Tennessee or Kentucky d: February 19, 1909 in Ft. Smith AKA (Facts Pg): William H. 1. [ARSebast] MAYS BRAND ROAD NEAR VAN BUREN, AR
2. Sebastian County Info requested - In March of this year there was an article came out in the March Ft. Smith paper re students working on a small cemetery in Van Buren at Industrial Park Road and Mays Branch Road - Question - Does anyone know anything about this cemetery - name, etc. and about the Mays Branch Road - who was named for, etc. MAYS is a family name I am researching - my grandmother Minnie Jane Sturgeon was born in Sebastian County and married Monroe MAYS. Just wondered if the cemetery might be connected to the MAYS family and wondered if the road was named after one of my MAYS family. You never know, do you??? If anyone has any info, I would like to hear from them. Evidently the students were working under the auspices of the Fort Smith Geneological Society chapter. Dee Johns
