The 1880 Searcy County Ar Census has a Valatine (Valentine H.) Williams age 39 born TN father KY, mother TN with wife Mary and children Moore, Leweller (Louella) and Emley (Emily) Williams. Is anyone doing research on this family, know the father of Val or any of his siblings. Mother's name was Susan Williams, living with him in the 1880 census age 69 born TN Janie
V H. Williams' father was Ambrose Davis Williams, b abt 1797 in KY and Susan Ann Hardin (so I've been told). They were the parents of: Benjamin H. b. 1832, TN; "Vol" Valentine H. b Feb 5, 1841, Hardin Co., TN, d. Feb 12, 1916, Cleveland, OK. Married Mollie Brumley Cole, widow of Henry Cole; Hardin Moore Williams, b abt 1842, TN; & Joseph Novil Williams, b. 29 Jan 1828, Hardinville, Hardin co., TN. He married Elizabeth Greenhaw Robertson 16 May 1867 at Lebanon, Searcy Co., AR. More information about Joseph N Williams is available in "1911 Arkansas CSA Veterans" Vol III. Mrs. Mollie E Williams, wife of V H Williams wrote an autobiography entitled "A Thrilling Romance of the Civil War" which talks at great length about her marriage, and children to/by V H Williams. If you are interested in the book, get in touch with me off line. I've heard that Ambrose was the son of Harden Williams, but have nothing to back this up.
