I have seen several queries as to where the town on Monks, AR is or was. Apparenntly it was a very small community that was only around a short period of time. I decided to look at my books of marriage records and see what I might find there. Book 1 1881-1895 no listings Book 2 1896-1905 Boyd Watts 25 & Clemmie HUCKABEE 17 (m) Nov 1901 both of Monks John A. Bryant 22 & Myrtle HOLLABAUGH 17 (m) July 23, 1902 he of Marshall, she of Monks M. J. Smith 23 & Malinda BRANSCUM 18 (m) July 13 1902 both of Monks J. N. Redman 19 & Sarah D. GRAY 16 (m) Aug 20, 1903 both of Monks his father W.A. Redman her consent B. S. Gray. B. A. Taylor 20 & M. C. SCRIBNER 19 (m) July 10, 1904 both of Monks W. T. McInturff 44 & Lavinia WATTS 21 (m) Oct 12, 1904 A. B. Cotton 21 & Marthie GRAY 25 (m) Oct 20 1905 Book 3 1905-1913 there were nine marriages the last one in 1908 Book 4. 1913-1916 no marriages Book 5 1916-1918 no marriages. So it would appear that this community was only in existence from about 1901 to 1908 ...I thoought it possible that some one might know these families and be able to know the area they lived and possibly that was the Monks area at some time.
