Ancestor Exchange, Searcy co Ar CD NEWSPAPER CLIPPING: "An open letter to all female descendents of the Brattons. Congratulations to all of you female Brattons descended from the Brattons who came to North Arkansas in about 1838! Their names were: Benjamin Bratton and his wife Lucinda, Rachel Bratton (married to Silas Rose), and Martha Ann Bratton (married to Thomas Massey). There may have been others who arrived later, but if they were descended from Paul Bratton of Guilford County, North Carolina, as were the above, all of you are eligible to become members of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Paul Bratton was the son of Robert Bratton and Mary Milliken of North Carolina. Mary Milliken was the daughter of William Milliken who is listed as a Revolutionary War Patriot, and that is the connection that makes you all DA.R's. Again, my congratulations. One of our distant cousins who traced it all out, had it all published in a book, titled: Family History of our Brattons, Masseys and Martins. Her name was (she died about two years ago) Louise Brint Jones, and she obtained her DAR membership on the basis of the information she records in her book. She gives her National Number as 597 142. Any local chapter of the DAR should be able to help any of you who would like to apply. Yours truly, Howard Roscoe Bratton, Point Blank, Texas."
