    1. [ARSEARCY] John R. Shipman

    3. John Shipman is enumerated in the 1850 Census, Tennessee, Carroll, Dist. 15. His first wife is not listed, I believe that was Sarah Moore b. ca. 2 Feb 1808 TN, died 19 Sep 1845 Westport, Carroll, TN. In this same 1850 Census John R's oldest son Elijah M. Shipman is also listed in Carroll Co. Dist 15, Elijah 24 TN, Abigail 18 TN, and daughter Sarah 2 TN. The other six children of John R. and Sarah Moore are at home with John R., they are: Elizabeth, Nancy, Charlotte, Elisha, Martha and Sarah. I have not located John R.'s family for the 1860 Census, I believe that he died 24 Dec 1859 in Westport, Carroll, Tennessee. I have some notes, no proof, that he may have married Elizabeth Redman? and as well the Susannah earlier discussed. I don't know if Susannah was a Holt or a Cypert, but a brother of his married a Cypert. Did John R. have additional children with a second and or third wife, where was the family enumerated in 1860. John's brother Isaac is in Campbell, Searcy AR for 1860, he is without wife, appears that Malinda Cypert his first wife has passed and he has the house full of children before he married Elizabeth Brown and had more children. John's brother William F. "W.S." is also in Searcy county for 1860, he lives in Bear Creek. He has wife Mary from SC and six children. John's brother James Erwin Shipman had come to Searcy county and was enumerated there in 1850 at Campbell. I think he was married to Nancy Holt, Ann Gray and Mary Katherine Hollabaugh? John's brother Matthew was enumerated in Searcy Co. in 1860 Census living on Bear Creek. He was married to Tritheny, had three children Mary, Rachel and Rebecca the oldest 8 years old born in AR. I believe John R's father Jacob and wife Nancy Denton Shipman both died in Tennessee? Don Ott
