I am hoping that I am posting this to the correct site and that it will help myself and others, and honor a special lady. SARAH COBBS Services for Sarah Jane COBBS, 89, of Anadarko, OK, will be held at 11 am, Saturday, April 29, 2000 at Smith Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ted Mercer and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating, and Ed Scott assisting. Cobbs was born July 15, 1910 in Lesley, Ark., to Lewis Alexander and Elter A. (ONEAL) BURLISON and died Wednesday, April 26, 100 in Oklahoma City, OK. She married Roy Cobbs Jan 19, 1935 in Cogar. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her half-brother, PERRY BURLISON, and one grandchild. Burial will be in the Binger Cemetery. **************************** The above Sarah Jane Burlison Cobbs was my great- (half) aunt. My grandfather was Perry BURLISON, Sarah Jane's half-brother. It has been just in the past year that great aunt Sarah Jane was found and contacted. I had planned a trip this August to meet her and talk with her in person, but I did not get that chance. I did get to talk with her by phone and she was a lovely lady! She was most glad to have found Perry's family. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. I note that some spellings and names are in error in the obit. I do not know which paper this obit is from. The folks at the funeral home mailed me this info. I do not know where Cogar is located. I know that Lewis Alexander "Bud" BURLISON is buried at Canaan Cemetery along with his first wife, Sarah Francis GRAY BURLISON, infant son, nephew L. W. HODGE, and other in-laws (GRAY/PARKS). I have info that L. A. Burlison was elected a JP in Sulphur Springs, Searcy CO., ARK Sep of 1900 and 1904. Lewis' sister, Eliza, married a David HINKLE, and there is a connection to YANCEY family. Lewis, his mother (Sarah Owens Burlison), and sister Eliza moved to Searcy Co from HArdin Co., TN, about 1855. Lewis' second wife, Etter O'NEAL, was daughter of Isaac Taylor ONEAL and Derinda Jane PIERCE. Sarah Jane told me that Etter ran a general store and Lewis ran a post office from the same store. Also, Sarah Jane told me that Etter remarried after Lewis BURLISON died (in 1916), to Mr SIGMAN. Sarah Jane told me that she was named for her grandmothers: Derinda Jane Pierce Oneal and Sarah OWENS BURLISON GRAY (Lewis' mother). Sarah Owens Burlison Gray was the second wife of Aaron Pinson GRAY. She married her son's father-in-law. If anyone could help me with any of the above family names, I would certainly appreciate it. I cannot attend the ancestor fair this year, but do plan a visit in August. I would especially like to find any info on N. Perry BURLISON as he has no birth, death, marriage certicates/ hospital, funeral home records/ nor burial plot/headstone. Perry married Lora Almeda PRUETT - daughter of Lafayette Pruett. Possibly, they met/married in Bear Creek, or Atkins (Pope Co.?), ARK, 1900 - 1910. Thank you very much for your time and possible help, or suggestions as to best use of my limited time in Marshall in August, Sharon xabortners@aol.com
