Kenneth , Thank you for your post on the confederate soldiers of Arkansas. <http://www.couchgenweb.com/civalwar/> . As I was brousing through the site of the 45th Searcy Co. Milita of Arkansas. In it I found a list of the soldiers who were taken to the Chichago Illinois prison. I just recently went to Dover ,Tn. where the confederate Fort Donaldson is located. My great grandfather Jonathan H. Allen was in the 50th inf. . When Fort Donaldson was taken by Gen. Grant my ggrandfather was taken prisoner and placed in prison in Chichago ,Illinois. When I was searching the confedreate records of Stewart Co. Tn. I only found that there was a star * beside the soldier who was imprisoned. It did not say if he had died or been released. My ggrandfather did not die while imprisoned .He did go home after the war but not in good health. It was thought with TB. His wife was later listed on the Confederate widows pension records. I was in hope that you would know where I might obtain a Tennessee list of prisoners who had died there.?? Thanks again for the site.
