She was Dicey Jane LESLIE born about 1834 who married John Smith BOYD 27 Feb 1851. She is buried in a brick crypt in the Leslie, AR cemetery. Her husband was killed in the Civil War during Price's raid into Missouri. She died just after the birth of their last child. She was sick and was given some honey. There was a bee still in it and the bee stung her in the mouth and she died from the sting. Their children were Martha, William, Samuel, Mary, Andrew and James M. These children were raised by their Boyd grandparents, Charles and Lavina SMITH BOYD. Samuel Leslie was born 25 OCt 1809 in Barron Co. KY according to a history written for the Searcy Co. History Book by Nola Bratton, a grandaughter. He died 31 Aug 1896 at Leslie, AR and is buried in Leslie Cemetery. His father was John LESLIE and mother Jane McElwee. Grandfather was Samuel LESLIE and Sarah HUTCHINSON of County Autrim, Ireland. He came to Searcy Co. AR in 1838 and settled on a homestead at the mouth of Cove Creek near Leslie originally called Wiley's Cove. Another daughter of the second Samuel Leslie, was Mary Ann born 1836 died between 1860-70 who married S. L. REDWINE Children were Andrew J. Daniel Buchanan and Samuel L. These children are listed with their LESLIE grandparents in the 1870 census. A third Samuel E. LESLIE born 04 Apr 1850 died 22 Aug 1885 buried in Leslie Cemetery. Hope this helps you some.
