    3. Dolores, here's about all I can find on the Raines family in Marion Co. There is no Raines surname listed in the MCAR 1870 census. MCAR 1880 census for Prairie Township: #120-121 William N Raines 30 farmer AR TN IL. Eliza 30 wife AR AR AR. William P 8 son AR AR AR. Margaret E 6 dau AR AR AR. Mary A 5 dau AR AR AR. Martha A 3 dau AR AR AR. #137-138 William M Raines 59 farmer TN VA NC. Mary J 46 wife TN TN AL. Daniel H 2 son AR TN TN. Samuel A Scott 18 step-son AR AR TN. Frances Scott 20 step-dau AR AR TN. Ellen Scott 16 step-dau AR AR TN. "Marion Co Marriage Records 1887-1896" by Marian Burnes & Vicki Roberts. W T Harris aged 20 of Bruno m MCAR 14 July 1895 S D Raines aged 17 of Bruno. "Marion Co Marriage Records 1896-1905" by Marian Burnes & Vicki Roberts. W P Raines aged 26 of Eros m MCAR 1 Oct 1899 M J Travis aged 24 of Eros. Sam E Davis aged 19 of Searcy Co m MCAR 25 April 1901 Nancy J Raines aged 19 of Bruno. W J Martin aged 26 of Bruno m MCAR 25 Sep 1902 Mattie Raines aged 24 of Eros. "Marion Co Marriage Records 1905-1917" by Marian Burnes & Vicki Roberts. Ezra Shultz aged 28 of Dugger m MCAR 23 March 1912 Adeline Raines aged 30 of Dugger. Lee Bearden aged 31 of Rush m MCAR 31 Sep 1912 Dicy Raines aged 29 of Freck. John Raines aged 26 of Freck m MCAR 1 July 1913 Annie Baker aged 26 of Tomahawk, Searcy Co AR. Oliver Raines aged 30 of Freck m MCAR 17 Nov 1915 Dora Lay aged 21 of Tomahawk Township, Searcy Co. AR. "Cemeteries of Marion Co AR" by Marian Burnes. James O Raines 1885 - 1942 bu Anderson Flat Cemetery. M M Raines, Co. I, 2nd AR Cavalry bu Jefferson Hall Cemetery. And that's about it from the sources I have here at home, Dolores, except for what's in "Genealogies of Marion Co Families 1811-1900." Oh, and by the way, Freck is in Marion Co, not Searcy Co. I know there's been lots of confusion about the boundary - probably because of the Buffalo River and the way everyone bebopped back and forth without a thought as to which county they were in and the fact that (for some reason I'll never understand) there was a Tomahawk Township (created between 1870 and 1880) in MCAR right next door to the Tomahawk Township in Searcy Co. <groan> Looks to me as if we have two separate Raines families. Your info and all this sure don't match up very well <grin> Mysty shakerag@mtnhome.com ************************************************* ----- Original Message ----- From: Dolores W RAINESSUTTON <drainessutton@juno.com> To: <ARMARION-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 11, 2001 9:39 PM Subject: Ancestors of James William[BUD] Raines > James William [Bud] came to Marion co Ark in 1870. > and died in Searcy Co Freck,Ark.in 1889. > He was the son of William Bailey and Elizabeth Kennymore Raines > his Brothers and sisters were > Mary 1st Married Christopher Loggains 2nd George Haskins [died 1879 in > Boone Co Ark.] > Pamela Priscilla married John W.
