In the Searcy County Source Book #1 edited by Mary Frances Harrell there is an article on the Dinky Line. It states it was started about 1906, ran from Leslie to the headwaters of the Little Red River. It goes on to state it operated for some twenty odd years hauling timber out of the mountains. NOTE BY JUDY: I think it may have been a few years later than 1906. My grandfather Toby Lonzo Holsted helped to build it. I have transcribed a tape he made telling about it. He was in OK in 1906 and 1907 so I think it was 1908/1910 when it was built. If anyone is interested I will be happy to do a copy and past of the article I have and send it.
