Posted on: Searcy County, Ar Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Searcy/11602 Surname: Turney, Strickland, Jones, Blair ------------------------- How are John Gordon Strickland m. Cinthia Robertson related to Samuel Smith Strickland m. Aetna Jane Robertson? Were the two Stricklands and two Robertsons siblings? I also found a book in the library: Bishop, A. W. (Lieut. col. First Arkansas Cavalry volunteers) Loyalty on the Frontier, or Sketches of Union Men of the South-west; with incidents and adventures in Rebellion on the Border. St Louis (R. P. Studley and Co., 1863). This book gave an account of Paris Strickland's travails during the Civil War, and how he had to face a fake trial and was almost executed. It seems that Paris was a Union sympathizer, while his father-in-law William Jones was a Confederate. Not quite brother-against-brother, but close enough! I also found William Jones as the official County Judge Searcy County, 1862-1864. Source: "Historical Report of the Secretary of State Arkansas 1978" ed.
