Barnes, 70 of Whitney TX died Nov 19, 1988 at a Temple Tx hospital. He was born July 30, 1918 in Snowball, Arkansas, the son of Corbin Elijah and Mattie Jane Tipton Barnes. He had lived in Whitney Tx since a small boy. He was married to Hanna Ruth Smith on December 27, 1941. He was owner and operator of Barnes Auto Parts in Whitney. He served in the US Army during World War Two. He was a charter member of Richard James VFW Post 8571. He was also a member of Towash Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Hanna, two infant sons and one brother, Woodrow. Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Peacock and Sharon Barker of Hillsboro Tx; two sons, Ronald Barnes of Killeen, Tx and Jerry Barnes of Cocoa Beach, Flordia; three sisters, Mrs Frank (Anna) Beseda of Hillsboro, Tx, Mrs Ranna D. Kirk and Mrs Arbie Pautsky of Wichita Falls, Tx; five brothers, J. D. Barnes and Virgil Barnes of Whitney, Isaac Barnes of Arlington TX, C. W. of Orange TX and Parker of Witt Springs, AR.;ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services were November 22, 1988 in Marshall TX at Marshall Chapel. Burial was at Peoria Cemetery with Rev. W. L. Walker and Rev. Eddie Booth officiating.
