My wife is desended through John Reeves, the half son of Peter Reeves. There has been, as far as we are concerned, a question as to the full names of his wives. We have John (b. 1824 in TN) married to Minerva Jane ? (b. abt. 1827 in Alabama) and have Minerva listed as the mother to John's children. Their son, Edman Bruin, is our line. We have John's second wife as Elizabeth ? (b. about 1831 in TN) but none of the children have been attributed to her. Recently we have information found by one of Edman Bruin Reeves decendants that Elizabeth L. Strickland is a Grandmother to Edman (my records disagree and show Elizabeth to be step mother to Edman). To further confuse the situation, the cousin's records show Elizabeth to be married to Joshua Reeves (my records show John (Joshua's half brother) to be father to Bruin. The cousin's records show Joshua to be a full blood Cherokee (My records indicate Joshua to be fullblood white but quite possible that John was half blood - we've never been able to verify John's mother). Now that I probably have everyone thoroughly confused, does any of this ring any bells for you? I'm thinking Elizabeth ? in paragraph two may be the Elizabeth L. Strickland mentioned in Paragraph three and that we have some errors with Joshua in there. Also, there seems to be an extra generation where my cousin shows Edman's father as a Robert Reeves who had a sister Fran. Here's hoping to run into some clues. Joe Thurstenson

Sources for this information include the 1830, 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880 Searcy Co AR census and Steve Bemrich who's web site "A North Arkansas Tree Farm" can be accessed at http://209.196.125.11/GEN and "History of Searcy Co. AR." I've not had time to check all the Searcy Co marriage books nor all the Searcy Co census books nor the Searcy Co 1900 census so there are probably more details out there than what I'm sending here. Hope this is more helpful than confusing for you, Joe. If you run into problems, check out Steve's site - even email him with your questions.
