Can someone tell me where Beaver Township was located? My family is listed in the 1880 census in Beaver. I can not seem to find it on any map Thanks for any help Marge Brown Names I am researching: BROWN, CLARK, DREWREY, DUDLEY, HATFIELD, McCALL, SHEALY, SHIRLEY, SLAUGHTER, VEST,
When the 1880 census was enumerated, Beaver Township was in the upper northeastern portion of Searcy Co. AR. It was bounded on the north by Marion Co and on the east by Baxter Co. Campbell Township was to the south of Beaver Township. There seems to be some question as to what township bordered Beaver on the east - probably Tomahawk, but that's just a guess. These townships are political subdivisions of the county and are created on a population basis in order to provide equal representation in elections etc. Hope this helps.
