Mountain Wave newspaper reported in the CLINTON JOURNAL 5 Oct 1905 Accidentally Killed Probably the saddiest death ever in Van Buren County occured two miles south of Settlement yesterday morning. As we heard it, LALIE, the ten-year old daughter of Dr.F.M. CLARK, of Lexington, and her mother, were visiting at MATHIS BRADFORD'S. She and her seven year old cousin,ROY BRADFORD, were playing with a target rifle; she was standing on the second stair step when ROY thought of the shotgun and undertook to pull it from under the bed,when it discharged and blew the top of LALIE'S head off.
