    3. Mysty, This regards one of the family names listed to Margie's post. The HATFIELD FAMILY. I want to share a story that was recently told to me and my husband Rick , by his Aunt Lenora ( HOlliman) Quick.( She is the daughter to William Daniel Holliman and Ressie Arzella McClung Holliman. Ressie's mother and dad are William and Sara (Davis) McClung. Lenora said that the story was told to her by one of uncles of her mothers family. Her mother was Ressie McClung one of the Searcy county, Ar. McClung decendants. The story is : When the famous "HATFIELD and the McCOYS" were fuding in Missouri, some/or one of the McCoys moved to Arkansas and changed their name to McClung. It was from one of these boys that the Searcy County ,Ar. McCLUNG family decend from . They were trying to escape from the fuding and moved here. When I read the name HATFIELD I couldn't help but remember this story. Especially when I saw that Misty told that these families were in the northern part of Searcy Co. and also in Marion and Baxter counties. It is my understanding from family that this is the general area that they settled into. We have a WILLIAM family member who married into the Holliman Family also. From what I have learned all of these families migrated to Arkansas from Missouri. The HOLLIMAN, WILLIAM, McCOY ( McCLUNG). Another interesting thing is that Ressie (McClung)HOlliman named one of her children none other than "COY Holliman"! I wonder why?? Could the story be true. Does any one out there know anything about this??? Just another story. :] Marinda Holliman >From: "Mysty McPherson" <shakerag@mtnhome.com> >To: ARSEARCY-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [ARSEARCY] Beaver Township? >Date: Thu, 16 Aug 2001 12:39:25 -0500 > >When the 1880 census was enumerated, Beaver Township was in the upper >northeastern portion of Searcy Co. 3. Thanks for the credits, Marinda, but all I did was explain to Margie where Beaver Township, Searcy Co. was located in 1880. If some of her ancestors were there, I don't know about them. All I did was find Beaver Township. I do know that there's an excellent library - McClung Library - in, I think, Nashville TN; that there were bunches of McClungs all over MO around the 1860s and 1870s; and that a widowed McClung from TN died in childbirth in MCAR 1869 and that her 3 McClung children, raised by her 2nd husband (Charles W Baldridge), took the name Baldridge as their own. And we had bocoodles of Hatfields in Maine when I was growing up there. One even became a fairly well-known Hollywood actor (I can still see him as a very young man - gorgeous - one of my kid sister's flames - before he became famous). Fun story, though. You should research it. Might be a winner :-))) Mysty shakerag@mtnhome.com ************************************** ----- Original Message ----- From: marinda holliman <mrholliman@hotmail.com> To: <ARSEARCY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 17, 2001 1:50 AM Subject: Fwd: Re: [ARSEARCY] Beaver Township? > Mysty, > > This regards one of the family names listed to Margie's post.
