As some many of you know I have been doing some research on the Sooter family which ties into the Melton/Palmer/Moody families. I have a transcribed copy of William Sooter's will made in 1824 in Carroll County TN and proved in 1825. I also have transcribed copies of deeds where his land was sold, apparrently after the yougest children came of age. His will names his wife Elizabeth, children Pemeley, Leonard, William (R), Edward (Greenberry), Berry (Greenberry)**he did indeed name 2 sons Greenberry***Edward was usually called Ned and Greenberry was Berry********then Nicey, Sally and Eli. Now we know that the Elizabeth Brown Sooter who William was married to at the time of his death was the mother of Eli (he was Eli Brown Sooter) but do we know she was also the mother of the older children. For reason too complicated to post on the list I think this may have been a second marriage. At least one person posting on the web shows Edward Greenberry's mother as Elizabeth Russell. William could well have married two Elizabeth's. Does anyone know if Permeley, Leonard, William, and Berry had a different mother than the three younger children. At least Eli, Edward and Sally were under 21 when the will was made. Anyone with info on any of these families I would appreciate hearing from you.
