When my Smiths died at Civil War time, they left a young son named John Alexander who ran away to Louisiana. After he married, he moved to Henderson County, Texas and I have the line from there on down. I do not recognize the names you submitted, but there were Smith kinfolks in the area, so it is possible.....Pat James ----- Original Message ----- From: "dewayne treat" <dewaynetreat@yahoo.com> To: <arsearcy@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 08, 2007 12:41 PM Subject: Re: [ARSEARCY] Searcy County Ancestor Fair > Hello list...any of these SMITH folks connect to Francis Marion Smith & > Eliza Treat???? > > > > Name: Francis Marion SMITH > Given Name: Francis Marion > Surname: Smith > Sex: M > Birth: JUN 1844 in IN/MO 1 > Death: 23 MAY 1912 in Searcy Co,AR 2 > Note: !MARRIAGE: > *to Eliza J ??? - Power of Attorney from Francis M Smith to Elijah C Hall; > recorded in Miscellaneous Record Book I, pg 382 in the Morgan County, IN > Recorder's Office, Martinsville, IN; dated 17 Aug 1875 and marked by > Francis M > Smith and his wife, Eliza J Smith in Marion County, AR for the purpose of > representing them in regard to their interest in the estate of John T > Hall, > deceased in Morgan Co, IN (copy by correspondence) > *to Charity Warner - Marian Burnes & Vicki Roberts. Some are there to sell books, like the various county historial societies will have books on that particular county: census, marriages, cemeteries, wills, court records. Then there are others who will have their own family history on their table. They are there to share information they may have on their family and hope people will come talk to them about the family. They will not have anything to sell, just hunting for more information and willing to share it with others. Then there will be commercial tables that are only there to sell books, CDs, etc. At times there are other miscellaneous offerings. For instance, the last two years, Leslie Cemetery Association has had a table. They are trying to find out who is buried in the unmarked graves in this cemetery and information on each person buried there. Several years there was a commercial printer who copied and enhanced pictures for those atte! nding. So you can see there is a variety of information available. On Friday night after the workshops are over, there is a dinner for anyone wishing to attend. At this you get to talk to all the other folks who are there. My husband, C. L. and I, have not missed one of these in the years it has been held. C. L.'s Boyd family is from Leslie before 1850, so we were really interested in this fair. It is the neatest thing I have ever attended. But it is not just for Searcy County families, many other counties will be represented. I think you will enjoy it and am sure you will find things on your families. Sincerely, Lina Boyd Dover, Pope Co. AR
I have a Smith family I am searching for in White County. Does White County have good resources to contact as does Searcy? I seem to be unable to find a contact. Could anyone out there advise me? Thanks in advance..... The Searcy County Ancestor Fair is a wonderful Fair - you have "Sideshows" (workshops) on Friday with a Mixer Dinner (everyone mixes and mingles for a few hours, along with eating their dinner) Friday evening. Then on Sat. there is the Fair - where everyone exchanges information about their kin in Searcy Co., back till the beginning of it in the early 1800's. Some info back into the late 1700's. I have been attending it for about 10 years now, I live in AZ - so it is quite a trip for me - but it has been well worth the effort. You would really enjoy it and would have a good time finding your Roots in Searcy County - so please try to attend this year. It is ALWAYS the first weekend of June. ----- Original Message ----- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com To: ARSEARCY-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, January 07, 2007 7:57 AM Subject: Re: [ARSEARCY] Searcy County Ancestor Fair This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
