Janie...The marriage books in the SC courthouse begin with Book "B"...and, I believe the first recorded marriage dates from Dec., 1879, if my memory serves me correctly...I am sure someone has those Lacy marriage books and can correct me if I am wrong.....of course, to answer your question, I am thinking that there MUST have been a Book "A" which perhaps burned in the 1880 courthouse fire.....I believe it was 1880??? Anyway, wouldn't it be great to be able to see that Book "A"???? I bet it would go back to civil war days!!!!! Anyone have anything on this???? I have found on line two different sets of children listed for Solomon Stone, Jr. son of Solomon Stone and Elizabeth Ladd. One is the set you list who were from Illinois and the other is from Solomon Stone who lived in Marion County, Tennessee in 1830. I think before this he lived in Maury County, TN. Both were born in 1790. They can't both be the son of the older Solomon, unless there are two seperate Solomon Stones. I have about decided there were two who were born before the time of the Rev. War and that both of them must have a son named Solomon. I have tried several times to sort out "Solomon" Stone and I just cannot do it. They just do not fit what I found on line or in the census!! Also, I have an old family bible that lists a Solomon Stone the same age as the one who married Elizabeth Ladd and his wife is also Elizabeth, but his dates do not agree with what everyone else has listed for him. He also had a daughter named Elizabeth, who is my ancestor. No one has her listed as a daughter of the older Solomon Stone who married Elizabeth Ladd. Solomon Stone 03 Dec 1752 - 1839 died Marion Co. TN (from everyone who lists this man on line)Supposed to have married Elizabeth LADD. Solomon Stone 17 Dec 1752 -16 Oct 1834 (unknown place of death, dates from old bible. Also has wife named Elizabeth. His daughter Elizabeth Stone married William McAnally and I believe this is their family bible. Elizabeth (the younger) was born 12 Jun 1795. She and her husband lived and died in Lawrence County, TN. Will be glad to share this information with anyone who wants it. Because I need proof. Iam trying to connect my family, my great grandmother was Sarah Rosetta Anderson born July 17, 1880 Elizabeth, Fulton County, Arkansas daughter of Commodore Perry Anderson. Here is my problem I know he was married to Susie Stone born 1855 died March 28 1887 Fulton, Arkansas buried Deweytown cemetery. She was the daughter of Toliver Stone. (I have photo of tombstone). I was told her mother was Zela Christine Stone. (I have no info on her parents)But if Susie died in 1887 that would make her Sarah Rosetta's mother. And I know that Commodore Perry Anderson also married a woman by the name of Julia after Zela's death. Sarah Anderson first married an unknown Branch then she married my great grandfather Cyrus Columbus Reynolds. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Is anyone working on the Hiram and Morning REEVES line that might know if there is a will or probate for Morning/Mourning/Marner REEVES who died about 1860 in Searcy Co.? Does anyone know where Morning REEVES is buried? Jan James
Dean for some reason I can't scan them in correctly so will just make copies and send them to you if you will give me your mailing address and I too was disappointed that we didn't at least get a maiden name for William's mother.
