    2. Dewayne Treat
    3. Hello to all! I am in the process of contacting as many descendents of Sparta Van Curtis as possible to let them know about a project I have been working on for several of the Curtis cousins who are kin to the Treat family. Sparta was a member of the 2nd Regiment of the Missouri State Guards, C.S.A. and was a POW during the civil war....I have ordered and received a veterans marker for his grave and plan to place it and dedicate it during the Memorial weekend this year....several are interested in this project and I want all Curtis descendents to be a part of this...contact me if you want to be a part or if you have suggestions or questions!!! 3. I really hate to burst your bubble, but the 20th century will not end for another year. And the millinium has to wait for another year too. I believe you all begin counting with the number one. Therefore, in order to get 100 years, the counting would be: 1, 2, 3, ... 100 for a century. A millinium would be 1, 2, 3, ... 1000. The next millinium would be: 1001, 1002, 1003, . . . 2000. Do you see that we still have one more year in this millinium and one more in this century? I hope so. 3. I would Disagree We are not saying that we are ending the 21 century we are talking about starting the 21 century my simple way of looking at it is we just complete 1999 after 1999 next comes 2000 the start not the end you can start next year if you want but i think i will count from today forward if that is ok with every one no offense to anyone i believe that when you attain the age that some of us are now we might not get to see next year so happy 21 century Kenneth Dorothy Ragland wrote: > I really hate to burst your bubble, but the 20th century will not end > for another year. 1. [ARSEARCY] Apologies
    2. Mysty McPherson
    3. In the New Year's message I sent to everyone shortly after the year 2000 began, I had intentions of passing on a bit of trivia for us tree-climbers to ponder and to wish everyone happy New Year. I just thought it was a relatively interesting observation. I had no intentions of upsetting folks and, apparently, starting another of these endless who-struck-John routines. I sincerely apologize to those of you who would have stated the message differently - to those of you who would have omitted the references to the millennium, thereby nullifying the observation regarding the probable number of generations created in a thousand-year span, which was the primary object of the message. I guess I'm safe in saying a new year began at midnight (maybe) last night. But, I guess I'm not safe in saying a new century began at midnight (maybe) last night nor in saying a new millennium began at midnight (maybe) last night. Again - my deepest apologies to all. 2. Mysty McPherson
    3. At the risk of carrying this latest New Year Celebration a bit too far, I thought you all might like to know this evening has been quite a landmark. We've not only ended and begun a year, but also ended and begun a century as well as ended and begun a millennium. All in one click of a clock. At the accepted average of 4 to 5 generations for each century, if we family tree climbers had all been as lucky as we'd have liked during this past year and traced our families to the beginning of the millennium that just ended, we'd have gone back approximately 40 to 50 generations <gulp> A very happy and successful tree-climbing New Year, New Century, and New Millennium to everyone. 3. Green Treece may be related to Adam Treece, but we don't know how, yet. (And may never know). And yes, Permelia Emily Melton (12 Mar 1844-24 Jan 1926) was probably the daughter of Andrew J.
