    1. [ARSEARCY] WHEW!!!!!
    2. Mysty McPherson
    3. Thank heaven for battery backups!!!!! I can't praise them enough!!!!! Here's the kind of life saver one of these under-$100 marvels can be. Weather is overcast, dry, no wind - not even a breeze. But, not 3 minutes ago a simultaneous *huge* bolt of lightening/clap of thunder hit something on the hill above the house - saw the flash out my window. Also *simultaneously* my computer battery backup let out one of it's "dings" and my computer went toes up dead. The power all over the house was out for, maybe, 3 seconds. And I'd just finished and saved (thank my lucky stars) a *huge* new data base on the status of all 372 files/families for the Supplement to MCAR Families. I was still connected to my ISP, though <panic>. Upon resetting the battery backup to shut up its endless beep-beep-beep-beep and rebooting, my screen tells me "you didn't shut down properly and may have damaged segments" <gulp> and was running scandisk. Not one single thing was damaged, lost, gone, dead, or whatever <BBBBG> Got talked into a battery backup around 8-10 years ago. Figured it was sort of more of those gizmos/gadgets that get added to computers whether needed/used or not. I soon learned *this* gismo/gadget was probably the most useful thing I owned (after the computer itself, of course). It's saved my ___ a jillion times over the years <whew> Why everyone in the whole world doesn't have one is beyond me. Why they're not touted in every computer ad and on every computer site is also beyond me. Just thought I'd let you all know what can - almost - happen. That little gray box on the floor just saved 2 1/2 years on a huge book along with my checking account, addresses, my own genealogy, my internet stuff - the whole works. Think about one. They're truly marvelous. Mysty shakerag@mtnhome.com

    3. YES, the early messages you have received regarding a major virus is true. All the major television networks are carrying the news. I have tried to access some of the web sites which I usually cite when false virus warning are spread but they must be experiencing an overload so I was not able to get in. I wanted to be able to tell you more but if you watch the networks and I'm sure CNN then you will hear this alert. This is the one if opened will send it on to everyone in your address book so be on the alert and -------------------------DO NOT OPEN "I LOVE YOU" Regards, Ann Amaryllis Bohannon McDonald amcdonal@sheltonbbs.com Malden, Missouri, USA Listowner ARSEARCY-L@Rootsweb.com MSNESHOB-L@Rootsweb.com

    1. [ARSEARCY] Obit - Sarah BURLISON COBBS
    2. I am hoping that I am posting this to the correct site and that it will help myself and others, and honor a special lady. SARAH COBBS Services for Sarah Jane COBBS, 89, of Anadarko, OK, will be held at 11 am, Saturday, April 29, 2000 at Smith Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ted Mercer and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating, and Ed Scott assisting. Cobbs was born July 15, 1910 in Lesley, Ark., to Lewis Alexander and Elter A. (ONEAL) BURLISON and died Wednesday, April 26, 100 in Oklahoma City, OK. She married Roy Cobbs Jan 19, 1935 in Cogar. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her half-brother, PERRY BURLISON, and one grandchild. Burial will be in the Binger Cemetery. **************************** The above Sarah Jane Burlison Cobbs was my great- (half) aunt. My grandfather was Perry BURLISON, Sarah Jane's half-brother. It has been just in the past year that great aunt Sarah Jane was found and contacted. I had planned a trip this August to meet her and talk with her in person, but I did not get that chance. I did get to talk with her by phone and she was a lovely lady! She was most glad to have found Perry's family. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. I note that some spellings and names are in error in the obit. I do not know which paper this obit is from. The folks at the funeral home mailed me this info. I do not know where Cogar is located. I know that Lewis Alexander "Bud" BURLISON is buried at Canaan Cemetery along with his first wife, Sarah Francis GRAY BURLISON, infant son, nephew L. W. HODGE, and other in-laws (GRAY/PARKS). I have info that L. A. Burlison was elected a JP in Sulphur Springs, Searcy CO., ARK Sep of 1900 and 1904. Lewis' sister, Eliza, married a David HINKLE, and there is a connection to YANCEY family. Lewis, his mother (Sarah Owens Burlison), and sister Eliza moved to Searcy Co from HArdin Co., TN, about 1855. Lewis' second wife, Etter O'NEAL, was daughter of Isaac Taylor ONEAL and Derinda Jane PIERCE. Sarah Jane told me that Etter ran a general store and Lewis ran a post office from the same store. Also, Sarah Jane told me that Etter remarried after Lewis BURLISON died (in 1916), to Mr SIGMAN. Sarah Jane told me that she was named for her grandmothers: Derinda Jane Pierce Oneal and Sarah OWENS BURLISON GRAY (Lewis' mother). Sarah Owens Burlison Gray was the second wife of Aaron Pinson GRAY. She married her son's father-in-law. If anyone could help me with any of the above family names, I would certainly appreciate it. I cannot attend the ancestor fair this year, but do plan a visit in August. I would especially like to find any info on N. Perry BURLISON as he has no birth, death, marriage certicates/ hospital, funeral home records/ nor burial plot/headstone. Perry married Lora Almeda PRUETT - daughter of Lafayette Pruett. Possibly, they met/married in Bear Creek, or Atkins (Pope Co.?), ARK, 1900 - 1910. Thank you very much for your time and possible help, or suggestions as to best use of my limited time in Marshall in August, Sharon xabortners@aol.com

I've done research on these people for over 20 years so have quite a bit of material. Would love to correspond with other descendents of these people. Am still trying to find the parents of Joseph Rea, and where his wife Sarah was residing in 1870. Possibly Boone Co. Thanks, Carol Kinney, Seattle Washington

    3. Judy, in the Searcy Co 1870 for Bear Creek I find Mary H Hensley, widow of John, aged 59 b TN. She is living with Ebenezer D Arnold aged 33 b AR, Mary J aged 22 b AR, Eugene C aged 2 b AR. In the Searcy Co 1860 for Burrowsville [now Marshall]: John H/M Hensley 52 TN. Mary 49 TN. Henry Clay 16 AR. Mary Jane 12 AR. Thomas Moore 20 hireling. Joseph Renfrow 19 mail carrier. Edward Bruen 40 physician. There's no Mark or Elizabeth Renfroe in the 1860 nor 1870. There's no Hughes surname in the 1860 nor 1870. There's a bunch of Hensley families in Searcy Co census records. 3. Haven't delved into the Goodall mess much yet, Charlotte, but this much I can tell you. "Robert Yarbrough d TX m Mary Jane Price (daughter of William "Buck" Price). She m/2 TX Charles Stone. In 1862 she and her children Robert Yarbrough, Catherine Yarbrough, and unborn child [Yarbrough? or Stone?] returned to AR. They were in Tomahawk Township, Searcy Co. AR in 1880." Pretty sure this came from "History of Searcy Co" In Searcy Co 1870 in Tomahawk Township I find Christina Yarberry 20 b AR living in #101-102 the Elias Wilson household. And I find Robert Yarberry 22 b AR with his wife Sarah A 21 b AR living with her widowed mother Catherine T [Treece] Johnson in #102-103. Don't know how much this helps. Some, I hope. Keep in touch. 3. John M Hensley age 45 (born TN) appears in the 1850 Searcy County census with wife Mary and children. I believe he is the brother Elizabeth Hensley who married Mark Renfroe in TN. It is a bit confusing that Betty who was much younger was born in SC but they may have been moving back and forth. Does anyone have the 1870 or 1880 Searcy County census to look up John M (probably Martin) and check to see the birth places of his parents. Also I would be interested to know if there are any Hughes or Renfroe children living with him. I would also like to share with anyone researching this Hensley family. They appear to have come from the Perry/Wayne county area of TN. Any help or information much appreciated. Judy
