    1. [ARSEARCY] Mortality Schedules
    2. Mysty McPherson
    3. Y'all need to know that each of the four (1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880) Mortality Schedules is a separate schedule that was a part of each of the these four census. These Mortality Schedules recorded ONLY the deaths that occurred during the 12 months PRIOR to the official enumeration date for each of these census (usually 1 June of the census year, but not always). If you KNOW a person died within the 12 months prior to the census enumeration date, the Mortality Schedule for that time period will tell you when, where, from what causes, etc. for that person. No other time period is covered in any of them. Mortality Schedules exist ONLY for the census years 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880. Many folks on these lists have access to the "Arkansas Death Index" series compiled by Desmond Walls Allen and are willing to do lookups in them. These cover all deaths recorded in Little Rock after Feb 1914. If you're looking for a death that occurred *before* Feb 1914 or *not* during the 12 months preceding the enumeration date for the 1850, 1860, 1870, or 1880 census, your best bet is to contact the county in which that death occurred to see if any records exist there. 1. Re: [ARSEARCY] Mortality Schedules - Death Index?
    2. Dear List Members, I am interested in the name N. Perry BURLISON. Supposedly, he died in Little Rock at St. Vincents Hospital in Nov 1939. However, this hospital has no records and the state has no death certificate. Perry has no known grave, no birth certificate, no marriage certificate. He is listed in the 1900 - 1920 Searcy Co census listings. Is there someone who could check the "Arkansas Death Index" by D. W. Allen for his name and relay any info to me? I would like to get a delayed death certificate for him. And of course, any helpful suggestions as to how to proceed would be most appreciated. Regards, Sharon xabortners@aol.com

    3. Hi Searcy listmembers-- A thought just occured to me about the "Searcy County Mortality Schedules for 1850, 1860, 1870 & 1880". I am looking for a man that I "think" died in Searcy County about 1880. His name "might" have been Andrew Grant. If someone has the time I would appreciate a lookup in the list to see if there are ANY Grants listed close to this time period. Next question is for Mysty. Can you tell me who the list owner is for Conway County or how to find out? You seem to "know everything" so I like asking you questions that I can't figure out for myself. 3. Hi James, Thanks for the note...I got my exchange and it lead me to the library to go through Doc Daniel's ledgers....it is quite interesting!!! Now, do you know IF there was a mortality schedule done for period 1880-1900? We have never been able to locate the death date for Reuben Ragland's wife...we believe Nicie Amber (Melton) Ragland died in the 1880's, but, nothing has ever been found!! If you or anyone runs across anything that would give us a clue, I'd appreciate hearing about it!!! Thanks for your good work, James!!! 3. Looking for the family of JAMES B. GRAY, who married MINNIE FIRESTONE. They had four children as follows: William Arthur, Beatrice, Olon W. and Alvin, who was born 9/14/1910 in Leslie. William Arthur moved to Van Buren, where he was employed by the Frisco Railroad. Alvin moved to Fort Scott, KS, where he, too, was employed by the Frisco Railroad. Olon died in 1926 and is buried in Ft. Scott, KS. Minnie Firestone was born August 21, 1874, in Dardenelle, according to her obituary. I have absolutely no information on James Gray, other than his name. Does anyone have access to church records in the area and/or newspaper articles?
