    2. Mysty McPherson
    3. Census indexes exist for every state for the 1850, 1860, 1870 census. They have the name, age, county, and township for each person. I know the Arkansas History Commission has these for all of AR as well as several other states. However, they don't do research for folks. I believe Accelerated Indexing (or something like that) did them. Most larger libraries have them. 3. Secret Peace Society and Civil War I just had a thought tonight, and this is one for ALL of us to really DWELL UPON!!!!!!! If any or all of you have been distraught or heavily involved in this Political mess going on right now in our nation...it is just a SMALL taste of what the men of Searcy County went thru. A VERY small taste. We are watching from the comforts of our homes, at arms length of all the political affrays. Don't we all know that those Civil War years for our forefathers were more than men and women should have ever had to endure!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our little disagreements are small and nobody is going to shoot us or hang us for disagreeing with one another. The sacrifice's of all men who have fought for our freedom gave us some of these "Cream Puff" privileges we share today. And no matter which side they fought on don't you think we should all just stop and give them a moment of silence and gratitude for their sacrifice to give us these amazingly gentle political disagreements of today. 3. Larry, you aren't just kidding!!! I see where 13 YOUNGBLOOD men served in the same 1st Arkansas Calvary, Company K TOGETHER!! They must have won the war singlehanded. Your Theodrick B. Youngblood died right after the war ended in 1869 his widow drew an Invalids pension. And Doctor F. Youngblood drew an Invalids pension in1890 and his widow drew one in 1923 for a minor child. I don't think they needed too many more men in that Company K, of the 1st Ark Cav....with Benjamin F., Doctor F., Francis M.., George, George Q., James H., James P., Jeremiah M.C.,; John, Pleasant, Thoedrick B., William, William, Sr., William Jr. YOUNGBLOOD, all fighting together.........EVERY SINGLE one of them enlisted in Carroll County, Arkansas in July 1862!!!!!!!!!!! It's strange that they had so many different birthplaces listed.. Two born Missouri, Two born Mississippi, Two born Illinois, one born TENN. and all the other didn't know where. I'm glad they fought with our relatives.......................Faye in Tx. ----- Original Message ----- From: Larry Pyshnyjr <lpyshny@hotmail.com> To: <ARSEARCY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, November 17, 2000 12:10 AM Subject: Re: [ARSEARCY] locating family lines. > WITCH COMANPY was he in mine also in the 1st arkansas cav, company k,union > ,doctor youngblood,1st litu, his brother thredict youngblood capt, they made > comapany k 1st arkansas cav out of denver arkansas,in corrall county have > history on 1st arkansas, book > > > >From: "thesandys" <thesandys@email.msn.com> > >To: ARSEARCY-L@rootsweb.com > >Subject: Re: [ARSEARCY] locating family lines. > >Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2000 21:32:29 -0600 > > > >Ooops....also in that Union 1st Ark Cav. unit there was also a Jonathan > >Jimeson > >who served with these other Jameson/Jamison/Jimeson men. 3. >From the "Secret Peace Society List" the name of the son of John Christy was James F. H. Christy who served UNION in the civil war: CHRISTY, James F. H. Company H, L, 1st AR CAV, Pvt/CORP, enlisted on 10 Sept 1862 at Searcy Co., AR. he was age 23 on enlistment and was born in Searcy Co., Ark. He drew an Invalid pension from Arkansas fro 1st Ar Cav., Co. H, L, Invalid 1887. I am sure Old John Christy was too old to serve, and don't know about Joseph Christy, if he was marched to Little Rock, he most likely joined up with the confederate unit that was the choice to keep from being shot for treason. That is the same unit my Mastin C. Jameson joined in the Confederacy. We have been having a discussion of JAMESON on the Logan, Johnson and Pope counties sites, and we found that our Lorenzo Dow Jameson (one time Sheriff of Searcy Co.), served in the Union 1st ARk Cav. , Co. H, as 1st Sgt. (among other units as well),and that Caleb M. Jameson also served in the 1st Ark Cav. WE don't know WHO Caleb Jameson belonged to (Family that is), he was born in Monroe Co., Tn. I will search the Confederate records to see if Joseph Christy served in the war. 3. This came from my Halsted/Holsted list. Thought it might be of interest www.nps.gov/vafo/home.htm The National Park Service now has a Valley Forge Muster Roll Database developed from information collected over the last 50 years by park volunteers and staff. The database has only been active for a couple of days. It includes nearly 30,000 soldiers who served at Valley Forge during the Revolutionary War. Due to the volume of traffic a second server has been added - be patient.

    1. Re: [ARSEARCY] locating family lines.
    2. thesandys
    3. Kim, there is no question that our families of the JAMESON of Buffalo River there in Searcy County, have told many stories of our Jamison/Jameson being of Indian descent. Permelia Jameson Parks Ruff grandson, told stories of his grandmother "Melia" being a hard old woman who smoked a pipe and "Talked Cherokee" as his memory's as a little boy. I had decided in the last couple of years, that my great great grandmother "Sarah Paulina" unknown Jameson, wife of James C. Jamesons brother, Mastin C. Jameson, WAS likely a Christy before their marriage. I base my theory on the facts of her place of birth, the fact that they always lived next door to her and Mastin in census. And the Christy's were involved with our Jameson brothers in the "Secret Peace Society". The Christy's and my Sarah Paulina disappear from Searcy county AFTER 1870 census. Her age was just right to fit in with John and Elizabeth Christy's children. And like the eldest boys Sarah, she was born in Tenn. and married before 1850 in Searcy Co. On Dec. 5, 1861 from Head Quarters in Carroll County, AR, an order went out before the sitting court, to arrest L.D. (Lorenzo Dow) Jamieson, Westley Hensley and David Baker for being members or leaders of the Secret Peace Society. In other documents that were letters of Capt. John R. Scott of Pope Co., these same men are mentioned together, Capt. Scott was the man trying to round up and arrest the men in Searcy County who had held out on Secession from the Union and formed the Secret Society for Peace. The Christy's are also involved in the society. Capt. John R Scott's WIFE was a Jameson/Jamison, she being the daughter of Judge George Jamison of Johnson Co., AR....however she was born in Potosi, MO. (Washington Co.!!!!) May 16, 1816. The same place our Jameson's went from KY. before coming on to Ark. One of Capt. Scott's "runners" was a Jamison man (Or young man) who I suspect may have been a nephew of his via his wife Nancy Jamison Scott. This Jamison runner, carried many of the mail messages of Capt Scott during the war. In Another document of Capt. Scott's dated Dec. 9, 1861, many men of Carroll, Marion and Searcy Co. are listed as involved in the "Secret Peace Society" and to be taken prisoner and taken before the Governor in Little Rock. after that list is given there is a sub-note at the bottom that says that the following men are somewhat implicated and had turned themselves in without arms and would volunteer to appear before the governor at Little Rock. John Christy Joseph C. Christy J.T.K. Christy (Could be J.T.H.) P.M. Hensley Gilmore Smith Carroll Kilburn (he knifed Wm. Jameson to death) E..L. Osborn Carlton Keeling George M. Hays J.W. Kirkham John W. McEntire J.C. McNair I hope I interpret my civil war letters without error. James Johnston is an expert on this subject, he will jump in an correct me if I am wrong on this, and well he should.....he and I share a PET PEEVE of BAD genealogy or BAD History.
