    3. Lu Ann, probably your best source for Reves/Reeves data is "A North Arkansas Family Tree Farm" which is managed by Steve Bemrich at http://209.196.125.11/GEN. Last time I looked he had nearly 15,000 individuals - probably more of them Reeves than any other surname. Your Chapman Reeves is there with his ancestry back to England and a bunch of his descendants. Some of the information may be useful to you as may access to those who contributed their findings to Steve. Hope this helps. 2. Kinsey Millhone
    3. Benjamin Joff came here from Russia in the 1700's. They spelled their name Joff. They could not speak english. The immigration couldn't understand, so they called them Eoff. Benjamin bought a Hotel in New York and made lots of money. Some of his children drifted into Searcy County. There are books written about them. Does any one have any info on this family or the name of the books. Any info would be greatly appreciated. 3. This may be useful to you. The 1880 Searcy Co census for Calf Creek Township shows: #11-11 JOEL N REEVES 24 AR TN TN. EMELINE E 22 AR TN TN. My Reeves database contains this: JOEL NEWTON REEVES (son of Asa & Charity [Baker] Reeves) b Searcy Co. AR 1855 m/1 Searcy Co AR bef 1880 EMELINE E ___ b AR 1858. In Calf Creek Township 1880. This marriage probably accounts for the Alice J. Reeves, daughter of Joel Newton Reeves, b Dec 1888. I've not yet had a chance to go thru all the marriage records, cemetery records, and 1900 census for Searcy Co so my information doesn't come down quite as far as your - yet :-))) One of these days I'll find the time <sigh> One other thing I noticed in your emails is that you have Harrison in Searcy Co AR. It's not. It's the county seat for Boone Co AR which was formed, in part, from Carroll Co AR 1869. It's entirely possible that you might find family info in Boone Co records. Like your web page, by the way. You sure do have lots of data tied together. Have you been to http://209.196.125.11/GEN to check out more information on the Reeves family - along with several others? Steve Bemrich has done a remarkable job. It's a site that might be helpful in your research. 2. Well, to further confuse the issue, :-) One of my husband's ancestors was a Rev. Joshua Reeves, his father was Peter Reeves, he had a brother John, your information agrees, almost to what I have, only I have John and Joshua as brothers. I have the mother of John and Joshua as Sarah "Sally" Redden born March 2, 1712 in NC. Her parents were William Redding, and Martha Patsy Martin. My Joshua's wife was Alsey Elizabeth Kester. I also have an Elizabeth Strickland, but she is married to my ancestor Henry Barron. If you want the information I have, just let me know. Sincerely, Jean Hendrix

    3. My wife is desended through John Reeves, the half son of Peter Reeves. There has been, as far as we are concerned, a question as to the full names of his wives. We have John (b. 1824 in TN) married to Minerva Jane ? (b. abt. 1827 in Alabama) and have Minerva listed as the mother to John's children. Their son, Edman Bruin, is our line. We have John's second wife as Elizabeth ? (b. about 1831 in TN) but none of the children have been attributed to her. Recently we have information found by one of Edman Bruin Reeves decendants that Elizabeth L. Strickland is a Grandmother to Edman (my records disagree and show Elizabeth to be step mother to Edman). To further confuse the situation, the cousin's records show Elizabeth to be married to Joshua Reeves (my records show John (Joshua's half brother) to be father to Bruin. The cousin's records show Joshua to be a full blood Cherokee (My records indicate Joshua to be fullblood white but quite possible that John was half blood - we've never been able to verify John's mother). Now that I probably have everyone thoroughly confused, does any of this ring any bells for you? I'm thinking Elizabeth ? in paragraph two may be the Elizabeth L. Strickland mentioned in Paragraph three and that we have some errors with Joshua in there. Also, there seems to be an extra generation where my cousin shows Edman's father as a Robert Reeves who had a sister Fran. Here's hoping to run into some clues. Joe Thurstenson

    3. Nanye'hi (indian name for Nancy) daughter of Fivekiller and Tame Doe, was born in Chota, Blount County, tennesee, Cherokee Nation East about 1738. Nancy died in 1824 in Womankiller Ford, tennessee, at age 86. Her body was interred 1824 at Nancy Ward's Grave in Benton, Polk County, Tennessee. She married twice. She married Tsu-la Kingfisher. Tsu-la was born about 1732 in Tennessee. Tsu-la died 1755 in Canton, GA at age 25. Kingfisher was a full blood Cherokee of the Deer Clan (Ani-Kawi). He was killed while fighting in the Taliwa Battle led by the great war chief Oconostota. The Cherokees were determined to drive the Muskogeans (Creeks) out of North Georgie. His wife Ghi-ga-u (Nancy) was at his side chewing bullets to cause more deadly effects on the Creeks. Kingfisher was Mortally woounded. His wife continued the battle and the Cherokees were eventually victorious. Thus ended the conflict with the Creeks that had started in 1715. She had two children by Kingfisher, Catherine and Fivekiller. Her second husband was Bryan Ward, a white widower, who had located in the Cherokee country as a trade. Ward had brought with him his son John, whose deceased mother was a white woman. John subsequently married Catherine McDaniel, a half breed Cherokee woman, and became the ancestor of the numerous Ward family among the Cherokees. Bryan had one daughter, Elizabeth, by the Ghi-Ga-u (Nancy). Elizabeth's first husband was Brigadier General Joseph Martin and her second husband was ??Hughes, a trader. There is a Watts way down the line, but I don't have the info right now., Kinsey ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! 3. About 10-15 years ago my aunt, June (Coon) Davis was shown a picture by her aunt, Hazel (Coon) Nichols. It was a Coon family group picture and Jesse James was in the picture. My Aunt thinks she may be related to Jesse James but doesn't have any idea how. My Aunt's family is from Milan Mo. and I've been told that Jesse James robbed a bank in Milan. I would appreciate any help. Kelly Mitchell _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
