Dolores, here's about all I can find on the Raines family in Marion Co. There is no Raines surname listed in the MCAR 1870 census. MCAR 1880 census for Prairie Township: #120-121 William N Raines 30 farmer AR TN IL. Eliza 30 wife AR AR AR. William P 8 son AR AR AR. Margaret E 6 dau AR AR AR. Mary A 5 dau AR AR AR. James O Raines 1885 - 1942 bu Anderson Flat Cemetery. M M Raines, Co. I, 2nd AR Cavalry bu Jefferson Hall Cemetery. And that's about it from the sources I have here at home, Dolores, except for what's in "Genealogies of Marion Co Families 1811-1900." Oh, and by the way, Freck is in Marion Co, not Searcy Co. I know there's been lots of confusion about the boundary - probably because of the Buffalo River and the way everyone bebopped back and forth without a thought as to which county they were in and the fact that (for some reason I'll never understand) there was a Tomahawk Township (created between 1870 and 1880) in MCAR right next door to the Tomahawk Township in Searcy Co. <groan> Looks to me as if we have two separate Raines families. Your info and all this sure don't match up very well <grin> Mysty shakerag@mtnhome.com ************************************************* ----- Original Message ----- From: Dolores W RAINESSUTTON <drainessutton@juno.com> To: <ARMARION-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 11, 2001 9:39 PM Subject: Ancestors of James William[BUD] Raines > James William [Bud] came to Marion co Ark in 1870. > and died in Searcy Co Freck,Ark.in 1889. > He was the son of William Bailey and Elizabeth Kennymore Raines > his Brothers and sisters were > Mary 1st Married Christopher Loggains 2nd George Haskins [died 1879 in > Boone Co Ark.] > Pamela Priscilla married John W. Hello Everyone, I am looking for info on Alexander Grantham born in AR, married to Ida Belle Harrington. They had six children - sons names are Benjamin and Oscar, and daughters names are Ada, Geneva and Mary - do not know names of other siblings. They lived in Searcy County, and are found in the 1910 census for Tomahawk Township. Does anyone have any relation to these people. I understand also that Alexander's father's name was Charles Grantham. This family also lived in Texas and other surnames include Bradford. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, Kinsey, it's the same Joseph Adams. He's the son of Robert and Syntha (Cates) Adams. Sorry, I don't have his death date. Last time I found him was in Bear Creek Township, Searcy Co AR in 1870. An English Site well worth looking at kenneth http://www.wirksworth.org.uk/
I'M MY OWN GRANDPA Many many years ago, when I was tweny-three, I was married to a widow as pretty as can be, This widow had a grown-up daughter who had hair of red, My father fell in love with her and soon the two were wed. This made my dad my son-in-law and changed my very life, for my daughter was my mother, and she was my father's wife. To complicate the mater, even though it brought me joy, I soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy. My little baby thus became a brother-in-law to dad, and so became my uncle, though it made me very sad, For if he was my uncle that that also made him my brother To the widow's grown-up dauaghter, who of course was my step-mother Father's wife then had a son who kept them on the run. And he became my grandchhild for he was my daughter's son. My wife is now my mother's mother and it makes me blue, Because although she is my wife, she's my grandmother, too. Oh, if my wife's my grandmother then I am am her grandchild. And every time I think of it it nearly drives me wild. For now I have become the strangest case you ever saw--- As the husband of my grandmother, I am my own grandpa.
Kinsey, If you know it's not genealogy-related, then why do you do it? If I wanted to spend my time opening e-mail about substances that exude from crushed fish carcasses, I'd subscribe to a related site (if I could find one). If you have any more urges to publish such materials on a genealogical website, why don't you put that urge in the freezer with your pills--and leave it there? Happy belching. In my search for a missing West Virginia man, (Millard F. Blair), I located a Millard F. Blair with a 1906 Homestead Act in Township 13-N, Searcy Co. Arkansas. Can anyone tell me what Township this would be? I'm hoping that someone has access to a 1910 or 20 Census record. If I knew the town, I could search the 1920. Thanks for any help! John
