    3. In the Searcy County Source Book #1 edited by Mary Frances Harrell there is an article on the Dinky Line. It states it was started about 1906, ran from Leslie to the headwaters of the Little Red River. It goes on to state it operated for some twenty odd years hauling timber out of the mountains. NOTE BY JUDY: I think it may have been a few years later than 1906. My grandfather Toby Lonzo Holsted helped to build it. I have transcribed a tape he made telling about it. He was in OK in 1906 and 1907 so I think it was 1908/1910 when it was built. If anyone is interested I will be happy to do a copy and past of the article I have and send it.

    3. The Dinky Line ran from Leslie to the headwaters of the middle fork of the Little Red. It is shown on the county township map of about 1928. So far as I know, there is nothing left. 3. My data is spotty, but I have this couple in my database with incomplete dates. Sarah Turney who married David Campbell, is the daughter of Isaac Turney and Mary Gilliam. I have that she was born in 1819, and don't have any children listed for her. Her mother died in 1859 in Searcy County. Sorry I don't have more! Let me know what else you find. - Heather On 26 Jul 2001 james57@gte.net wrote: > > > Looking for information on David Harris Campbell, who married Sarah Turney in August of 1837 in Searcy Co., Arkansas. 1. [ARSEARCY] Pierce Family from Tennessee
    2. William Pierce (Pearce) moved to the Tomahawk area after 1850 from Wayne COunty (possible now Lewis or Perry, lines have moved).. as best I have the information he was married to Elizabeth Grinder, probabaly sister to Sam Grinder of "Grinder's Ferry" on the Buffalo.. over the next decade he had 4 children that I know of from the Census. There was William Robert, my gg-grandfather. There was John Wesley, who is the patriarch of many of my california cousins, and who eventually died in Cameron, Leflore Co., OK. There was James David, who has disappeared from sight, and Tabitha, who undoubtably married and disappeared. William served in the "Late Unpleasantness" on the Union side, being in Co. M of the 3rd Arkansas with many other Searcyites. He had been a member of the Peace Society, but was able to avoid the big roundup and the chain gang. When the war ended, he returned home, but obviously didnt stay long. He disappears from the Tomahawk Pierce family, and appears marr! ied to the widow Stacey Sikes Cotton down in Red River township, near Murillo, where he raises three more daughters, Edna, Nancy, and Sarah. He died there in Aug 1902 and was buried in Trace Ridge cemetery. I am looking for the other Tomahawk Pierce families to try and see if there are connections. I am seeking Cottons who might be able to pass on any tales of William. I am looking for any traces of James or Tabitha, and their eventual disposition. I have a web site at http://www.texsteve.com/gen where I chronicle these and other Searcy/Stone/Van Buren/Marion families.
