    1. [ARSEARCY] George Louis Gentry
    2. I am looking for information on George Louis Gentry who moved to Big Flat, Searcy, sometime in the 1920's. I think he died in the late 1930's/1940's. I have requested a death certificate on several occasions but have been unsuccessful in locating one. He may have been murdured and left on the road. He may even had died in the Little Rock area. Thanks for any help.

    1. [ARSEARCY] New to list..Brown..census help
    2. Hello, I just joined this list today. I have found out that my great great grandfather may have lived in this county. I found him on the 1880 census. The copy of the page is hard to read. I was wondering if someone might have a copy of the census to help me figure out what it says. here is the information Beaver township (174-13) Brown, Alexander...... his wife was Louise (I think). I know it says he was a physician. I cannot read the rest of the information. I think it will tell me where he was born and the name of his child. ( this was his 1st of 3 marriages) and the others in his household. If someone could please help I would appreciate it. Marge Brown

    3. James, Thank you for telling us about the books avilable on the Dinky RxR and the M&NA RxR. I am not too familiar with the differences between the two Rail Roads and the information you gave will surly help out. In June me and my husband Rick and his mother Wilma (Ragland) Holliman took a drive down to Zack, Ar. . If I am not mistaken ,the old M&NR rail road ( I believe that is the name of it?? ) went through there. There are still signs of the old watering tanks that held water for the train and what apears to be a depot or some sort of log building that may have been used by the railroad line.?? The dam like structure and its remains are still on the creek. It once held water for the train , but it is partially filled with dirt and gravel now. There are some old deserted houses near by also. Wilma showed us where she use to live when she was a little girl about 10 years old. Wilma told us that Sam and America Freeman use to have a store down there where she bought candy. Sometimes she and her daddy Roscoe Ragland would often walk from there to Marshall, Ar. and stay all night with his dad Samuel Jack Ragland. She also said that she walked to school from there to Grandview, Ar. and often carried her sister Betty on her hip with her. 3. There are several books on the M & NA railroad, and one piece in "Shortline Railroad of Arkansas" by Clifton E. Hull about the Dinkey Line. Actually the piece about the Dinky Line is in the Chapter on the M & NA, but it is pretty good. There are also the following books that deal with the M &NA, and some (particularly Fair) has information about the Dinkey Line. "The North Arkansas Line" by James R. Fair, Jr. "The Eureka Springs Railway: A Short-Line Railroad to a little town" by Edwin R. Tolle "The Missouri and North Arkansas Railroad Strike" by Orville Thrasher Gooden "The Harrison Riot or The Reign of the Mob on The Missouri and North Arkansas Railroad" by Rev. J. K. Farris (Takes side of labor) "An Industrial War: History of the Missouri and North Arkansas Railroad Strike and a Study of the Tremendous Issues Involved" by Rev. Walter F. Bradley (Takes side of management) Fair's book has been reprinted and may still be available. The Boone County Historical & Railway Society has reprinted one of the Reverends' books, and their Society does a quarterly publication (or maybe less frequently) on the M & NA Railroad called "Oak Leaves" which was the name of the old M & NA publication. Is there any other information, records,or documents other than the 1928 county township map of Searcy co. that JJJ mentioned and the article in the Searcy Co.Source Book by Harrell in existance that we could look at??? 1. [ARSEARCY] genealogy Cash connection.
    2. Earl Reynolds
    3. May 39 Faye in Texas wrote about a Cash connection at Snowball. There were two Hensley boys, Darius and Custer who were sons of Sarah White Hensley (dau. of Benjamin White Hensley) and John Riley Hensley. After the death of Sarah these two were raised by her half-sister Martha Hensley Cash and then husband John M. Cash. The boys went by the name of Cash. Is there any connection here to this descent?

    3. The majority of the surnames you list are not familiar to me as Searcy Co surnames, although by ca 1930 they could be there. And the Morning Star located in Searcy Co isn't even a wide spot in the road, but does have a big, blue water tower. There are four locations in Arkansas called Morning Star. This information comes from the Delorme Arkansas Atlas and Gazetteer http://www.delorme.com. 1. Morning Star, Greene Co AR, is slightly east of Paragould - a fair-sized city. 2. Morning Star, Searcy Co AR, is north of Marshall on RT 27 - a tiny little community - not even a town. 3. Morning Star, Garland Co AR, is slightly east of Hot Springs - a large city. 4. Morning Star, Phillips Co AR, is north of Elaine, a little west of the Mississippi River, southwest of Helena - a tiny little place. Hope this helps you figure out which Morning Star you're looking for.
