Dear List, It was brought to my attention that I didn't even mention our military. Can you believe it? My 27 year old son is in the Air Force and returned to American soil only six months ago. I know that many of you list member have sons & daughters and other relatives in the military an of course we are very proud of them and now they need our prayers more than ever. Especially remember those in foreign countries since in many cases they don't have their family around them. Our military bases were put on the highest alert yesterday. I have inserted a message from another concerned mother and she put is so well I wanted to share with you. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.. Ann.....I just wanted to say Amen to your email and to bring to your attention that there are other ways that this catastrophe has affected people that are not at the disaster sites. --------- I would like to request that you put our military personnel, as well as their families, on your prayer list. This dastardly attack on our country could resonate all over the globe. Until the relatives of those in the midst of these "bombings" get information about their condition, they, too, will be biting their nails. The waiting seems to be unbearable. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> God only knows what lies ahead for our country and we all need His guidance. God Bless America Ann
This you might say is off subject but I feel it is very much the subject today. As list owner I will ask that you ask God to bless our country as we have experienced the most devastating single day in the history of our county. If you have another religion please understand that I respect your right and ask your God the same blessing. Let's not post any thing to our mail list but quietly in our own way ask Him to supply strength for our leaders who must address this tragedy. I will pray for each of you and yours tonight who might be directly or indirectly effected. Our families who are scattered across this great country need our prayers. God Bless you all and God Bless the USA Ann Bohannon McDonald, Web Mistress Malden, MO

Here is what I have on Zadock Brewer and Mary Ann Brumley. ******************* Zadock Brewer & Mary Ann Brumley Zadock was born about 1797 in SC. He is in the Franklin County TN census in 1830. He is in the 1840 Itawamba County MS census with his name spelled Tedtick. Then in 1850 he is in the Tippah County MS census but the family is listed under Bruer. This is probably the original spelling of the name and it got changed to Brewer. The Bruer/Brewer family was almost certainly German. Land records of Tippah County, MS establish that Zadock sold land there to Jacob Graves in 1858. Zadock is in the 1860 Polk County AR census. Zadock died 1865 in Conway County AR. There is no proof of any kind but most Brewer researchers believe Zadock's father was John Brewer. Living next door to Zadock in both 1830 and 1840 is a John Brewer the right age to be Zadock's father. Also Zadock named one of his sons John. Mary Ann was born 1806 in TN. She was age 44 in the 1850 Tippah County MS census. For some reason Mary Ann does not appear in the 1860 census with Zadock although she was still living. She may have been away visiting family. Mary Ann was a Brumley but her parents are unknown . Mary Ann died in 1866 in Conway County AR. ******************* Also have info on Henry Counts who married Sally Brewer, daughter of Zadock and Mary Ann. Judy

That doesn't mean she might not be there, just that there is no marker for her. Sorry I didn't find anything on her. I will look at other things I have and if I find anything, will let you know. Lina
If you'll look back at my 20 April 2001 email, Dennis, you'll find I covered all 18 volumes of the Searcy Co cemetery books by Ruby Lacy. She was a very thorough researcher. If there's a Bolden buried somewhere in SCAR and she didn't find him/her, it's probably because 1) they weren't buried in SCAR or 2) there is no headstone or 3) whatever inscription might have been on a headstone, it's no longer legible. If you'll remember, Reubin and his family were in Van Buren Co before his wife died before 1910 so there's a good chance his father, William, died there too and is also buried in the Eglantine area. Sometimes, Dennis, it's just impossible to find some of the data we'd like to have. Burial places here in the Ozarks is definitely one. Do let me know if you come up with anything, okay? List: Ada Little wrote: How can we help if we don't who to look for? She has a point. My ancestor was WILLIAM BOLDEN (Bolen/Bolling/Bowling, etc) In 1900 William was 81 and living in the household of his grandson, Reuben Bolden in Campbell Twp, Searcy Co. Reuben had been married in the town of Leslie. WILLIAM was not living in 1910 and I strongly suspect he died in or near Leslie during that decade, and would have likely been buried in Leslie Cemetery. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Dennis McCormick
List Following on Ginny's note, I also have an ancestor buried in Leslie Cemetery, or I strongly suspect so. Hedoes not have a marker which I understand was not uncommon 1900-1905. My question is this. Is there a register anywhere of the people buried in Leslie Cemetery whether or not there is a market. Was there a newspaper there then that would have published obituaries? Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. Dennis McCormick

My ggg grandmother was Elizabeth Leslie McCaig, sister of Samuel Leslie b.1809 who married Ruth Harris. Elizabeth Leslie and Samuel Leslie came to Searcy County with some of their children: Jane McCaig m. Ben Potter, Mary Elizabeth McCaig m. Ben Thomas, Nathan McCaig and possibly a Caroline McCaig (may have been a relative, not a child). Samuel died in Conway Co. ARK in 1850, then Elizabeth lived with her son Nathan and then with Mary and Ben Thomas until her death in 1875. I went to an Ancestor Fair in Leslie/Marsall AR area the first weekend of June and I went to the Leslie Cemetery where she is buried. I know Samuel is buried in that cemetery also, as well as his wife and some of the children. I have Leslie information from the internet, from fellow- researcher and Leslie relative Edith Morrow Reynolds (descends thru Mary Leslie m. Ben Thomas), and from information I got at the library in Marshall. Would be happy to exchange information with you. Edith has proved the Leslie line through DAR and I have her number if that would be of help to anyone. E-mail me directly if you wish. Ginny O'Neal goneal@pcis.net

I tried to reach J D Houchens concerning his message on Mellie Dean Blassingame Smith Staratman, but it was returned to me saying "invalid address". I am interested in the name Blassingame and would like to talk to you about a possible connection to the George Washington Blassingame of Searcy County, who was married about 1852 to Malinda Elizabeth Kelley, daughter of John H Kelley and Nancy Ann Horton. If this name is familiar to you, please contact me. Thank you. Rita Floyd ritajf_99@yahoo.com
