Judy you are most welcome. Back in the 1960-70's there use to be a Silas and wife Dean FIRESTONE who lived at Harriet, Ar. (Searcy CO.) and owned the Firestone Store there at the intersection of Hwy 27 & 14. They died, but had some children. I think one of the daughters lives south of Marshall on Hwy. 65 somewhere between Coctaw and Greenbrier Arkansas. I don't know her married name. They are in some sort of cattle/grain buisness because of the big silo's there on their farm. There was a Cary GRAY family in Searcy county that lived out at Canaan area on Hwy 27 south toward Witts Springs. Some of the children still live in the area I beleive. Seems like one of his children was named Wendle GRAY. There was Patrica also. I knew them because they were distantly related to my WATTS family on their mothers side. You may search the phone directory and find some relatives who may have some information to help you. Happy hunting. It is locoatd on county road 254. I have not been to this one so I cannot help you with who may be buried there. There is another Shady Grove Cemetery which is in Van Buren County we just became aware of in some of our family searching. Take Hwy. 65 south from Marshall to Botkinburg. Turn left on hwy. 110(only one way, about 13 or so miles)to county road 91(right turn, south). Travel about a half mile here to cemetery and Shady Grove church on left. I found some of our Watts decendants from Searcy county there. Other familiar names of Searcy countians. I do not have a list of it however. Hope this helps. :] Marinda Holliman >From: "JudyG" <xscopist@bellsouth.net> >Reply-To: "JudyG" <xscopist@bellsouth.net> >To: ARSEARCY-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [ARSEARCY] Shady Grove Cemetery >Date: Mon, 8 Oct 2001 09:51:37 -0400 > >Can anyone tell me where Shady Grove Cemetery in Searcy County is located >and whether or not there is a list of people buried there? > >Any and all help much appreciated. > >Judy Gray > > > >============================== >Visit Ancestry.com for a FREE 14-Day Trial and enjoy access to the #1 >Source for Family History Online. The basics really. Bill is really the expert on the Turney family in this part of the woods, and those of us who live in the counties surrounding Searcy and Searcy itself often look to him for help when we have a family question.
Hi, I'd be interested in the answer to your question as well, as Joseph Turney and Mary Turney are also my 4g-grandparents, making me your fifth cousin. - Heather On 1 Oct 2001 adalittle@yahoo.com wrote: > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2V.2ADE/1368 > > Message Board Post: > > How much info does the Searcy Co Library have on the Turney families who came there in the early 1830s?
