Roberta and Ann, Some months ago I was in conversation with my O'Neal cousin , Jenenah (O'Neal) Smith about this very question. She is one of the Horton researchers. I had presented this question about Mary Polly Watts being a sister to our John Watts. She became interested and said she would see if she could get a marriage licens for them. It was my understanding that she was/did send in papers to try to get the marriage licens of Mary Polly Watts Horton and Isaac Horton II. somewhere in Tennessee. If I am not mistaken, I beleive she told me she heard from them saying that they were swamped with request or something and they could not do the search for her. I have not heard any more about it. There seem to be several people who have signed on to this list lately who are confusing the town of Searcy, county seat of White County to the County of Searcy which has Marshall as its county seat. It is almost a truism in Arkansas that the town is not in the county with the same name: Hot Springs is not in Hot Springs County; Fayetteville is not in Lafayette County; Searcy is not in Searcy County; Conway is not in Conway County; Benton is not in Benton County (but Bentonville is); Washington is not in Washington County; Van Buren is not in Van Buren county; and so on.... Roberta, I would love to be able to help you here. There is the belief that Mary Polly Watts is the sister of John Watts, born 1799 in VA. I find no Christopher surname in the 1870 Searcy Co. AR census. I'd suggest you try the city of Searcy in White Co AR. The two identical names make for lots of confusion in family searching. This family could have been in Searcy Co AR in May 1868 and moved someplace else by June 1870 when the census was taken, but it's unlikely. Good luck. My grandfather was Filmore Bradshaw born to John Oliver Bradshaw and Dora Alice McAlister. I know that Dora's family was originally from Pope county Arkansas which is close to Searcy County; however, she was born in Lamar County, Texas.....my grandfather said his father was born in Missouri but I have no proof of that. My mother found a very weathered scrap of paper that said John Oliver's father was William Jasper Bradshaw....when I put William in, I hit on this family Henry Bradshaw and Mary Ann Sutterfield. I find it very interesting that Mary Ann had a brother by the name of William Japser Sutterfield. Have you found any more information in your research?
