    2. Joe, Would you please clear up birth date for your wife's ancestor Edmon B. Reeves for me? 1860 census looks like age 5 (dob 1855) but 1870 census says age 10 (dob 1860) and 1880 says he is 18 (dob 1862). Thanks, Bill Reeves

I do not have any of the census. All of the families were relatives except I am not familiar with Sarah, M.C. Swenford and Hezekiah. Lewis & Eliza Long are ggrandparents and the parents of Margaret. How far is Faulkner County from Searcy? That's where I found my ggrandmother Paralee Hall listed in the 1880 census. She was a widow at that time and I'm thinking she may have remarried but who knows what her name was when she died. Do Marriage license give the names of the parents? Elgin was the son of Paralee, She also had two other sons, Hiram and Willie. My Dad was born in Snowball in 1904. Thank you so much for the time you have spent to gather this information, it is very much appreciated. The Hall's just seem to be so illusive. Glenda

Do you have the census for 1880, 1900 and 1910? I found Eliza E. and Lewis LONG in Whisenant Cemetery north of Snowball. This would be in the same general area but several miles away from Hall Cemetery. Eliza E. LONG 06 Jan 1850 - 09 Oct 1917 Lewis LONG no dates Co. K 2nd KS Cavalry Lewis S. A. Mrs. Lacy who did the cemetery books has a note that Rotha was born Mar 1883 from other sources. Her father David C. Manes is also buried in Whisenant Cemtery. Also do you have the marriage information on Elgan I. Hall and Margaret Long? I found this in the marriage records from Searcy County. They married on 09 Aug 1894 by L. A. Hall or Wall, JP Guess this record was hard to read. Margaret was age 17 and E. L. was age 18 and both lived at Point Peter. This is the mountain that separates Snowball area from Richland where Hall Cemetery is located. There were three other HALL marriages in this same book. Names are M. C., Swenford and Margaret HALL. Do you need these too? You are right, there isn't much information to be found. Mrs. Ruby Lacy did a book on the Obituaries and Etc. from the Marshall Mountain Wave. In this was listed an item that I really don't understand. It was from the25 Apr 1919 issue of the Wave. I will type this just the way she had it in the book. Hezekiah b. 21 Jan 1829 d. 16 Feb 1962 married Sarah HALL. I have no idea what Hezekiah's last name is. Is it HALL? or was HALL, Sarah's maiden name? Let me know if you don't have the three census records I mentioned. The HALLs are not in the 1880 census, but are in 1900 and 1910. Paralee isn't in any of them.

    2. Depending on where you live (as the towns closer to Searcy County are more likely to have the maps) your local library should have the National Geological Survey maps of the entire U. S. The library here in Tulsa has an extensive collection and I have gone down and zeroxed what I need from time to time. They are also available for purchase thru the Gov websites I think and also thru some local map stores.

My wife has Joshua's half brother, John as her GG Grandfather. Any information we can gain about the Tennessee dwelling would be most welcome. We accept John as half brother to all the other siblings because family lore indicates John's mother was a Cherokee. We suspect the girl may have been an employee or servant of the Reeves family. We have not been able to verify any of this story. Sally, Peter Reeve's wife, took John and raised him as her own and in her old age, John took her in his home. There are stories of John's older siblings showing disrespect for him because of his half-breed status. Any clues we can gain to support or disprove this story would be appreciated. I have recently been in contact with a person who is decended from Peter's brother, John, who remained in Tennessee as pastor of a Primitive Baptist Church.
