Bolen, was the daughter of Lewis (aka 'Louis') Daniel Bolen and Mary Jane Oliver. Her mother Mary died in childbirth or shortly thereafter. Sarah was born in Marshall, Searcy Co., AK, in 1887. Sarah's siblings were: 1) Henry 2) James Alex 3) Albert 4) William 5) Amanda. Sarah married Jason C. Joiner on 5 July 1905. Family folklore claims they were married on an indian reservation (IT or OK?) but we have not been able to substantiate the claim or location. They had the following children: 1) Delar (f) b. 1907 AK 2) Myrtle (f) b. 1909 in New Hope, AK 3) Florence (f) b. 1912 in Marshall, AK 4) Clarence (m) b. 1919, AK 5) Harry (m) b. 1921, AK. At various times the family lived in Pope & Searcy Co.'s, Arkansas. We know that Lewis is buried in Dongola cemetary near Snowball, AK. AK family names include: Bolen, Joiner, Moore, with cousins Taylor, Motley. If you have any information you would like to share on the family, please let me know and we can share details. Rob
Is there anyone on the list who is researcing the Clutts surname. I have very little information and would appreciate any help. Ray Keith Clutts born November 1908 at Chimes, Searcy County. He married Ola Holsted July 1930 at Chimes. I believe his parents were George and Docia Hefner Clutts. I have no birth information on George or Docia but I believe they were in Searcy County in the very early 1900's. Thanks Judy

My daughter-in-law went on the internet searching for Monks, AR, all she found was that a man named William Monks had something to do with the area way back when. So maybe the postoffice was named for him. Only guessing. Monks Post office WAS around only from 1901 to 1908, when it was closed and the mail sent to Leslie. It was located in sec 10, 14N 15W. I have seen several queries as to where the town on Monks, AR is or was. Apparenntly it was a very small community that was only around a short period of time. I decided to look at my books of marriage records and see what I might find there. Book 1 1881-1895 no listings Book 2 1896-1905 Boyd Watts 25 & Clemmie HUCKABEE 17 (m) Nov 1901 both of Monks John A. Bryant 22 & Myrtle HOLLABAUGH 17 (m) July 23, 1902 he of Marshall, she of Monks M. J. Smith 23 & Malinda BRANSCUM 18 (m) July 13 1902 both of Monks J. N. Redman 19 & Sarah D. GRAY 16 (m) Aug 20, 1903 both of Monks his father W.A. Redman her consent B. S. Gray. B. A. Taylor 20 & M. C. SCRIBNER 19 (m) July 10, 1904 both of Monks W. T. McInturff 44 & Lavinia WATTS 21 (m) Oct 12, 1904 A. B. Cotton 21 & Marthie GRAY 25 (m) Oct 20 1905 Book 3 1905-1913 there were nine marriages the last one in 1908 Book 4. 1913-1916 no marriages Book 5 1916-1918 no marriages. So it would appear that this community was only in existence from about 1901 to 1908 ...I thoought it possible that some one might know these families and be able to know the area they lived and possibly that was the Monks area at some time. Good Luck!!! Edna
