Dear ? One of the things that makes this hobby (genealogy) so interesting AND frustrating is the common names used. My William Payne was born in VA in 1780 and his wife Sarah Manas(Maness) was also born in VA in 1787. They moved to E. TN in about 1805-1810 to Hawkins County TN(probably NC or State of Franklin, when they came). That is about all I know and those facts have been substantiated by census, tax records and personal ffidavits they both made when applying for Bounty Lands in NW GA. in 1839-40.
