Hello again to all of you, Yesterday's discussion of our ancestors' migration into Scott County was very informative and helpful. I think a couple of you may have even found connections between your ancestors and those of others on this list? We received a great tip on Civil War research from John Dill. I think one of the most important things he implied is that we shouldn't focus only on our direct lines: search out all the information you can obtain on everyone connected with your family. He stated that the "best family information came from the records of...a brother-in-law." At times I've even checked out the neighbors (from the census) if they happened to be from the same state as my ancestors; in desperation I guess a genealogist will go to any extreme. ;-) I hope you'll all use this list to ask questions, seek help from the rest of us, share your exciting genealogy "finds," or just to visit with others who share a common interest in the history of this county and it's people. What books or other sources of information for Scott Co. are you aware of? Have any of you published books on your families? Do any of you have the "Goodner" books? Goodner, 1976** A History of Scott County Arkansas, by Norman Goodner, 1941, reprinted 1983 **I believe this one may be out of print now. I believe the price is $5.00 each and the books are available from the office of Donald Goodner, 315 Washington St., Waldron, AR 72958 (501) 637-3286. These books are not indexed, so are a little difficult to use, but they're just jam-packed with good Scott Co. information, some of which may not be available anywhere else.
