    1. J.P. Thompson, born 1834 in Alabama
    2. Dale Thompson
    3. Hi everyone, I'm looking for any info. on J.P. Thompson, born abt. 1834 somewhere in Al. He moved to Ar. sometime around 1850 with his father, probably James Thompson born abt. 1816 in N.C. J.P. married Frances Spencer, born abt. 1840 in Ar. her mother's name may have been Mary Spencer who shows up in the 1850 Ar. Census with a child Frances who is 10 years old. J.P. and Frances married in Sevier Co. Ar. around 1854 and their first child, Mary Jane was born in 1856. They had eleven children total including, Andrew, born 1859, John Perry, born 1861, James Travis, born 1866, Frances Pearlie, born 1867, Green, born 1870, Solomon Riley, born 1873, Robert, born 1876, and Marion, born unk. There are other children whose names I am not sure of. Some of the kids were born in Ar. and some in I.T. (now Okla.) J.P. fought in the Civil War in the 24th Ar. Inf. Regiment and in the 19th Ar. Inf. Regiment. Later lived in Yell Co. Arkansas. I have his Civil War Records, he drew a pension, his papers say he was a "long time Scott County resident". I think it is possible that he lived in the eastern part of the county where it borders on Yell Co. as he and his family show up in the 1870 Yell Co. Census, Upper LaFave Township. This Census lists them as farmers. Does anyone know of any Agricultural Schedules or anything down at the county level that would help me? I need to identify his siblings or parents so that I can continue my research. Listed living with the family is James (appears to be L.) Thompson, age 54, invalid, born N.C. I think this may be his father, but am not sure. I would gladly share anything that I have with anyone interested in this family. Dale Thompson
