Well, I just have to add to the praise concerning Scott County residents that I read on the list by Charlene and Juanita. At first, I wasn't really sure that the list would be the appropriate place, but then I wanted everyone on it to know. Although, there are great people all over the world, if you look with your heart, Scott County is definately special. I, too, was born in Oklahoma, but my maternal grandparents were both from Scott County and I have many relatives still living there today. I spent a lot of time in Arkansas during my youth and even lived there briefly (much too brief to satisfy me) and attended the H.S. and those are some of the most treasured times in my life. I still keep in contact with a few of my friends. Although, I have been living in Texas since 1985, it has always been a dream of mine to return to Scott County, where I lost my heart. When people ask me where I am from and who I am...I tell them it is not an easy answer, b/c I am a city girl with a country heart. Together with my grandparents I own some property there and as soon as I finish my educational goals and can afford to support myself, I plan on returning. Speaking of which, both my maternal grandparents are still living (although they are getting up there), my maternal great-grandmother was a mid-wife in the area. I'm planning a trip to visit them soon. One purpose is because I miss them and need to see them, but the other is to ask questions concerning my family's history that I can not afford to do long-distance. If anyone has NOT been able to identify any of their "mystery" photos, I would like to get them and see if she might be able to identify them. Or, if anyone has any questions, that they might like to see if she can shed some light on, I will be able to take a list of those, too. She was raised in the Bates/Cauthron area. She is definately interested in genealogy and knows a lot of details, however, she never had the time to write any of it down (guess we just all kept her too busy with the day to day stuff that was more important, such as trying to instill good old-fashioned family values in us). I remember the books that she bought to do this years ago, they were beautiful but, alas they have remained empty...I hope to change that (although most of my information, is in electronic form now). Best wishes and happy hunting to all who read this, Camille P.S. I would also like to express my personal gratitude to Delaine, she has been a tremendous help to me. When I make it "home," I intend to offer to join her local team and give of my time, in helping her fulfill the demands of her "project," if she needs me. :o) [I'm putting this here...so that she will know my intention and "call" me on it, when I get there :o)].
