Sorry. It is not. This is my ex-husband's surname and as far as I know his great grandfather was a John Archer of Austin, Tx area. This John Archer changed his last name from Zabel to Archer for whatever reason. Family story says that in school he was always tired of being called last because his last name started with a "Z", so he changed it to Archer so he would be an "A" and one of the first called on.
