    3. Donna, Hill (in ARk/Okla) is my lateral line and I sent several years ago for the "SOUTHERN CLAIMS FILE" of JOHN W. HILL of Sebastian County, Ark. It was the only file I ever got that had very little in it and I have misplaced it over the years...If I remember he was making a claim on some horses of his, that were killed. This may or may not be your JOHN HILL. HILL, John W. Sebastian Co, ARk. Comm. NO. 17968 Claim status B (B=Barred) These files are available from General Reference Branch National Archives Washington DC 20408 Specify "SOUTHERN CLAIM" these claims were made by citizens in the south who sustained damages to their place or property, etc.during the civil war and they could file a claim to the commission proving their losses. Most did get paid, you did however have to declare alligance to the US gov. Include all the data I gave if you send for the file (his only 1-2 pages, unless they didn't send me the complete file, which is possible) Faye in Tx.
