I just received the information on the Civil War Pensions for Joseph P. REED. The records were LOADED with LOTS of GOOD information. I even found there was one child from this family that I did not know about. >From these records I now know: Joseph Polk REED- (never knew what the P. stood for before now!) B: @1844,TN- (this wasn't listed anywhere in the records-just his age at marriage) D: 18 Feb 1899 M: 10 Dec 1865, Fayetteville,(Washington),AR Spouse: Mary Elizabeth POLLARD F: Unknown (may be Samuel REED) M: Unknown (may be Mary Ann BURNETT) Children: C. C.- 6 June 1869 William C.- 28 Sep 1871 Mary "Edna" Elizabeth- 1 Apr 1877 Walter O.- 10 Apr 1882 Bert W.- 13 Jan 1885 John P.- 18 Jan 1888 Daisy Parlee- 28 July 1890 * I know that they lived in Boles, up untill at least 29 Dec 1899. * They lived in Sasakwa,(Seminole),OK on 16 Oct 1916. * They had family in Crawford Co., AR on 15 Sep 1899 * There were two individuals (from Crawford Co.,AR), that signed affidavits to the fact that they knew Joseph & Mary E. personally, and that they were married on 10 Dec 1865. These individuals were: B. FORD, and Mark L. REED. (I believe that Mark L. was a brother to Joseph Polk REED), and I believe I found them on the 1850 for Washington Co., AR. * There was also a George William REED, who signed as Clerk at (Washington),AR on the marriage certificate for Joseph & Mary E.. on 10 Jan 1900. (Don't know who he was, but he must have been related.) * Joseph enlisted: Crawford Co.,AR on 10 May 1862, and was discharged 20/23 Aug 1865, Fayetteville,(Washington),AR. * Joseph was 5' 10", Fair Complexion, and Blue Eyes. * He was taken as prisoner of war 25 Oct 1864 at the Battle of Nubeon? Ridge, (Benton),AR. * He applied for pension 6 Mar 1886. * Joseph was 21 yrs. old & from Crawford Co., AR Mary E. was 19 yrs. old & from Crawford Co., Ar when they were married. I think that about covers it! I would like to hear from anyone who knows of this family, or connects with this line. I have also been in contact with, (and am still contacting) "cousins" (via internet), to exchange information and compare notes.
