In connection with Delaine Edwards' message today, in connection with the subject "Got no help", I am submitting the following family history in hopes that some of you might be able to fill in some of the blank (unknown) spaces for me. Between the close of the Civil War and prior to the taking of the 1870 Scott County Census, my great, great uncle, William Waits Cain and his family, left Forsyth County, Georgia for the west and settled in Scott County, Arkansas. The following are the family records on William Waits Cain and his family. William Waits Cain was born on July 1, 1804, in Jackson County, Georgia. August 27, 1826, in Hall County, Georgia, William married Margaret McCormack. Margaret was born sometime in 1804 in North Carolina. I do not have a date of death on Margaret; however, William died in Scott County on January 29, 1888. William and Margaret are buried somewhere in Monroe Cemetery, in Harvey, Arkansas. Cain was born on October 1, 1827, in Hall County, Georgia. Sometime in the year of 1848 in Georgia, Nancy married Francis M. Monroe. Francis was born on March 6, 1826, in Hall County, Georgia. Francis died in Harvey, Arkansas on December 21, 1887. Nancy died on June 13, 1905, in Harvey, Arkansas. Both are buried in Monroe Cemetery Harvey, Arkansas. Of this union there were five children. A-1. Mary Ellen Monroe was born sometime in 1894, in Forsyth County, Georgia. Died sometime in 1914. A-2. Wallace William Monroe was born sometime in 1852, in Forsyth County, Georgia. Died sometime in 1884. A-3. John Knox Monroe was born on April 10, 1867, in Forsyth County, Georgia. Died on April 26, 1911, in Harvey, Arkansas, and is buried in Monroe Cemetery, in Harvey, Arkansas. A-4. Dugald Francis Monroe was born sometime in 1870, in Harvey, Arkansas, died sometime in 1936, and place of death unknown. A-5. Shaston Lily Monroe was born sometime in 1872. Date of death unknown. B. Mary C. Cain was born on November 29, 1829, in Hall County, Georgia. On an unknown date and place married Francis A. Barrett. Dates and places of birth/death for Francis are unknown. Of this union there were six children. B-1. Georgia A. Barrett was born sometime in 1854. On an unknown date and place married Robert A. McCafferty. Dates and places of birth/death for Robert are unknown. Georgia died sometime in 1931. B-2. Martha E. Barrett was born sometime in 1855. On an unknown date and place married Augustus A. Pitts. Augustus was born sometime in 1851 and died sometime in 1932. Martha died sometime in 1923. B-3. Sarah N. Barrett was born sometime in 1857. On an unknown date and place married George W. Cornelius. George was born sometime in 1851 and his date of death unknown. Sarah died sometime in 1903. B-4. Florida A. Barrett was born sometime in 1859 and her date of death unknown. B-5. Virginia D. Barrett was born sometime in 1861 and her date of death unknown. B-6. Mary A. Barrett was born sometime in 1866. On an unknown date and place married Elijah R. South. Elijah was born sometime in 1866 and died sometime in 1952. Mary died sometime in 1936. C. William J. Cain was born on January 9, 1833, in Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia. On an unknown date in Hall County he married Mary A. (unknown last name). Mary was born sometime in 1844, and died on October 25, 1921, in Spalding, Oklahoma. William died on December 4, 1877, in Nebraska, Scott County, Arkansas and is buried in Monroe Cemetery, in Harvey, Arkansas. Of this union there were seven children. C-1. Mary E. Cain was born sometime in 1864, in Georgia. May 24, 1884, Mary married John F. Jones. Dates and places of birth/death for John are unknown. Mary died sometime in 1904. C-2. John W. Cain was born on March 4, 1866, in Georgia, died on January 23, 1914, Harvey, Scott County, Arkansas, and is buried in Monroe Cemetery in Harvey, Arkansas. C-3. Nancy M. Cain was born on October 2, 1869, in Scott County, Arkansas, died on December 11, 1890, in Nebraska, Scott County, Arkansas, and is buried in Monroe Cemetery in Harvey, Arkansas. C-5. Francis M. Cain was born sometime in 1873, in Scott County, Arkansas. November 28, 1897, in Scott County, Arkansas, Francis married Sallie M. Crosby. Dates and places of birth/death for Sallie are unknown. The date of death for Francis is unknown. C-6. Robert E. Cain was born sometime in 1875, in Scott County, Arkansas. March 17,1899, Robert married Drucella Hale. Dates and places of birth/death for Drucella are unknown. The date of death for Robert is unknown. C-7. Luda Cain was born sometime in 1877, in Scott County, Arkansas. November 28, 1892, in Scott County, Arkansas, Luda married A. Robert Cornelius. The date and places of birth/death for Robert are unknown. The date of death for Luda is unknown. D. Sarah C. Cain was born sometime in 1834, in Georgia. Date of death is unknown. E. Joseph Alex Cain was born on February 5, 1834, in Georgia. February 12, 1861, in Forsyth County, Georgia, Joseph married Mary E. Austin. Mary was born on December 8, 1843, and died October 11, 1908. Joseph died on November 19, 1895 in Scott County, Arkansas. F. Hector Valentine Cain was born on February 6, 1839, in Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia. June 12, 1869, in Scott County, Arkansas, Hector married Katherine Frye. Catherine was born sometime in 1847, in Tennessee and died sometime in 1878 in Brownwood, Texas. Of this union there were two children. F-1. Alice Martha Cain was born on October 11, 1873, in Arkansas. July 9, 1893, in Yell County, Arkansas, Alice married G. A. Ferguson. The dates and places of birth/death for G. A. are unknown. Alice died on February 25, 1937, in Arkansas and is buried in Parks Cemetery in Nola, Scott County, Arkansas. F-2. William Henry Cain was born sometime in 1876, in El Paso, Texas. March 14, 1899, in Yell County, Arkansas, William married Viola Hawkins. The dates and places of birth/death for Viola are unknown. The date and place of death for William are unknown; however, he is buried in the Masonic Cemetery in El Pasio, Texas. Subsequent to the death of Katherine in 1878, Hector married Carmen Kansas Sullivan on February 5, 1880, in Scott County, Arkansas. Katherine was born in May of 1860 in Mississippi, died sometime in 1903, and is buried in Monroe Cemetery in Harvey, Arkansas. Of this union there were twelve children. Thomas Harland was born on April 23, 1881, in Arkansas, died July 14, 1954, and is buried in Holdenville Cemetery in Wetumka, Oklahoma. F-2. John Camden Cain was born sometime in April 1882, in Arkansas. (First marriage) December 19,1909 in Spaulding, Hughes County, Oklahoma, John married Willie Campbell. The dates and places of birth/death for Willie are unknown. (Second marriage) On an unknown date and place, John married Jane (maiden name unknown). The dates and places for birth/death for Jane are unknown. John died sometime in 1942 in Wichita, Kansas. F-3. Laura M. Cain was born in December of 1885, in Arkansas. On an unknown date and place, Laura married J. W. McCormick. Dates and places of birth/death for J. W. are unknown. Laura died September 9, 1916, and is buried in Monroe Cemetery in Harvey, Arkansas. Ellie Cain Dates and places of birth/death for Ellie are unknown. F-8. Emma Cain was born in September of 1906, in Arkansas. January 14, 1906, in Scott County, Arkansas, Emma married R. L. Robison. Dates and places of birth/death for R. L. are unknown. Date and place of death for Emma is unknown. F-9. Adar L. Cain was bon in March of 1891, in Arkansas, and date/ place of death is unknown. F-10. Winnie Cain was born on March 6, 1895, in Arkansas. July 14, 1911, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, Winnie married W. Ernest Bottoms. Dates and places of birth/death for Ernest are unknown. Winnie died on August 9, 1949 and is buried in Holdenville Cemetery at Wetumka, Oklahoma. F-11. Edna E. Cain was born on July 12, 1897, in Arkansas. April 28, 1918, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, Edna married Walter Hulsey. Dates and places of birth/death for Walter are unknown. Edna died on December 22, 1978 and is buried in Holdenville Cemetery at Wetumka, Oklahoma. F-12. Vonnie Lee Cain was born on August 4, 1900, in Gravely, Arkansas. November 24, 1923, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, Vonnie married Vera Stanley. Vera was born on May 25, 1905 in Yellville, Arkansas and died on January 12, 1978 in Wetumka, Oklahoma. Vonnie died on November 4, 1972 in Wetumka, Oklahoma. Vonnie and Vera are buried in Holdenville Cemetery at Wetumka, Oklahoma. Of this union there were three children. F-12(a).
