First, I want to wish all of you a happy holiday! And may 1998 bring each of you at least one new and exciting piece of information on your most elusive ancestor. Several of you have expressed interest in the J.R. "Jake" Crump who was mentioned briefly in the Adeline (Lawrence) Brown Crump story written by Janice Rogers and published in the Spring 1997 issue of the Scott County Historical & Genealogical Society quarterly. Janice has sent this further information: 1860 census of Pike County, Arkansas Brewer Township, Dwelling #240: J.R. Crump 23 MS Jane 24 AR Leander 2 AR A.A. 1mo AR (f) Nathan 18 MS Although the age is off just a bit from the J.R. Crump marriage records found here in Scott Co., this J.R. Crump of Pike Co. apparently did have some connection with Scott Co: The Leander Crump listed above as his 2-year old son is found on the 1900 Scott Co. census at Parks. Lee married Lucy Blackwell, daughter of Ambrose and Eliza J. (Sessions) Blackwell. I'd be very interested in knowing what each of you are able to learn about this J.R. Crump of Pike County. Is he "Jake" Crump???? Merry Christmas to all of you! Delaine
