Hi all! My great grandfather, Robert (Bob) M. Harris of Scott County died October 29, 1915. He was the father of: Ollie C. Harris Morrow, (wife of Benjamin Allen Morrow) my grandmother. Thula Harris Herrin Hunnicut, Leige Harris Brayn C. Harris Dolly Harris Oller Frankie Harris Williams I have been told by my father countless times that Bob Harris died after having his arm torn off in a cotton gin accident on the night my father was born, but he has also said that he remembers this happening, and so we know that it actually happened later than 1912 when my father was born. In fact my father would have been almost four years old, and could have very well been there when it happened. My father has told this story many times to my sisters and myself. He says that he can still remember hearing the awful screams as Bob Harris lay dying. I am trying to find out if anyone remembers hearing about this accident that happened so many years ago. I would like to include this story in a family history I am writing about my family in Scott and Newton County, so would appreciate any information about this family. Thanks so much for listening.
