Hello Mike: There is a Gravelly community in the eastern part of Scott Co., very near the Yell Co. line. I hope someone on the list will correct this if I'm wrong, but I believe there is also a Gravely community in Yell Co? In checking the Scott Co. census for 1880 and 1900, I did not find the David Blackburn family listed. Perhaps they were in Yell Co? In 1900 there was a Lee Blackburn family here, but they were at the opposite side of the county, in Brawley Township. Delaine and Mike, Actually, I did not find a Gravelly in Scott Co., but there is one just across the border in Yell County. It is called Gravelly Hill, next to Dutch Creek, Bluffton and Ions Creek. However, Yell county was formed in 1840 from Pope and Scott Counties...and Scott was formed in 1833 from Crawford and Pope...didn't see a Gravelly there either. Gravelly Hill in Yell Co., was created in 1878 from part of Upper LaFave. Upper LaFave was created in 1842. Parts to Rover in 1866. Part to Gravelly Hill in 1878. Name changed to Bluffton between 1880-90. Is this confusing...or what !! My husband's grandfather was born in Gravel Hump...and I have NO IDEA where that is !! Anyone heard of it? Hello, I am searching for the county where my grandparents, the David Blackburn family, lived. The community is named "Gravely". As I remember, it seems it was in the North West part of Arkansas. My g. grandmother Martha Ann (Harris) Blackburn (1853-2 Nov 1905) is buried there. Family members are still associated with the area, I am told. I would like to find a county map for Arkansas on the internet. When I discover references to counties, I am curious where it's located. It would also be helpful in contacting counties with the US GenWeb Project. Seems many of my ancestors have ties to the Great State of Arkansas. Any help will be appreciated. Hello All, There are about six or seven old photos up on the Scott Co. webpage now at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~arscott/scott.htm If you're interested in looking at them, just scroll down the page until you find the section on photographs and the links for each of them are there. I've reduced the size of most of them so they'll load faster but a couple of them are group photographs and they just don't reduce well, so will be a little slower to load. If anyone has an old Scott Co. photo they'd like included, please contact me at delaine@ipa.net. I have quite a few old photos of Scott Co. people myself but want to give some of you others a chance to get yours up there first. What about old buildings, etc., would you be interested in things like that? If so, I'll see what I can find. Have a great Sunday, all of you! Delaine Edwards
Oops, this was sent to ARSCOTT-L-Request instead of just ARSCOTT-L so was bounced to me and I'm forwarding it on to the List. The only marriage I found here in Scott Co. for a Maggie Winters was: B.F. Cansten, 20, of Barber, Logan Co. to Maggie Winters, 18, of Barber by F.M. Holland, M.G. on 19 August 1888. Book A, p.429 I did not find a second marriage for a Maggie Cansten to a Stevens, nor did I find a Stevens or a Cansten family on the 1900 census at Hon. Hope someone can help Allan. It might be a good idea to also check Logan Co., Allan? Delaine > > Researching a Maggie Winters who Married a Stevens--and had three children >-Maude-Allie-& Virgel --any info will be welcome--the marriage was the later >part of the 1800 mabe 1875--as Maude was born in Hon; about 1890- > Thanks > Allan Kendrick > ank3@juno.com > > >
Hi all! I am looking for information on ANNA LOUISANA IVEY, wife of BENJAMIN CHRISTOPHER HARRIS. She was the daughter of ELIJAH and MARY (SESSIONS) IVEY/IVY. Any information on these IVEY/IVY and SESSIONS families would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. Charlene char@presys.com
Is anyone on this list researching the Robert M. Hall family? Robert M. Hall was born 1866, son of James C. Hall and Sarah "Sallie" Hayes. Robert M. is listed on the 1900 Scott Co. census at Mountain Township, Dwelling #34/38. If anyone is working on this family, would you please contact me. Thanks! Delaine Edwards
Hi, I have temporarily put an old photograph of John F. Sessions on the Scott Co. ARGenWeb page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~arscott/scott.htm If you want to check it out, the link to it is at the end of the list of "Local Research Links" and listed simply as "Sessions." Since this is only temporary, there is no information listed about John Sessions. But this has given me an idea: how about adding some old photos to the webpage, with a short writeup about the person in the picture. I'd be glad to have your input on this and if any of you have a scanner and old photos you'd like added to the page, please let me know. They can be sent as an attachment to Email. Please don't send them to this list but to me at delaine@ipa.net. And please also send me a short writeup to be included with the photo. Those of you who do not have a scanner and want to have an old photo added to the page can do so by sending me a copy of the photo via snailmail. Please do not send me any old original photos that can't be replaced - I'd hate it if one of those got lost or damaged in the mail! Anyway, drop me an email and we'll discuss it. Delaine Edwards
